As you can guess from the title of this post..

*I did it...I just ran for 9k*😄

I took all your advice on board and thought about it as I ran. I started slowly, and was soon at my happy pace with robot legs and no toxic ten.

I thought about what you had all said, and Irish John of course, I ran a bit for you, and MummyCav who lost a dear friend recently,I ran a bit for you and Helen. I laughed about what Helenwheels haf said about the shield of determination and sword of true grit and imagined I had them with me...

At the halfway point I thought of Oldfloss and 'thats 4.5k done, I can do another one of those'....

The return run is always easier, but at 6k I felt a pain in my lower left leg that slowed me up. Oh no, am I going to have to hobble home. I thought of you all with your advice for injuries. Don't run on it and make it worse, ice it etc. but after I had slowed down, it felt ok again so I carried on...and did the full 9k.

My calf seems fine now, but I shall take your advice Millsie and have a couple of rest days.

Feeling confident about my 10k now😆😉xxx

In the end I used Sammi Murphy again but am planning doing a new playlist for the 10k.

Aah thank you Floss, that means a lot😊x

It was a beautiful clear morning, I wore my buff, and had my running jacket on unzipped for the first half and tied it round my waist on the return.

I got overtaken on the way back, by a rather fit young man who smiled and waved. (I was on 7k by then so flagging a bit..which is probably why he found it so easy to pull away eh?😉

So, actually doing it wasn't as scary as the thought of it...you were all right. Good luck with your next biggie😊..I haven't looked yet to see if you ran today.

Have a lovely evening😊xx

Whoohoo, knew you could do it!!!! Way to get in the zone and get it done! The 10k badge is yours for the taking.... it won't be long now! I'm hoping to make my attempt for 9k on Wednesday, it'll be after a week of no running so my legs should be well rested 😆

Bluebirdrunner profile image
BluebirdrunnerGraduate10 in reply to SaskAlliecat

You will be fine and nail it SaskAlliecat... i got the colliewobbles a bit at the thought of it, but it was actually fine and the extra bit on 'new ground' was the best part.

You should wear the sheild of determination and carry the sword of true grit..it worked for me😉..

Good luck, will look for your post on Wednesday 😊x

As you know, I piggy backed on your positivity support from your last post as I was having the same wobbles over my 8km run. This morning I got up, had breakfast, had nervous tummy twice (at least that lightened the load I was carrying, sorry to my family about the necessary exclusion zone around the bathroom)....then went and did my run. And did it!

9km next week, gulp.

Bluebirdrunner profile image
BluebirdrunnerGraduate10 in reply to Langley-Loper

Oh thats fantastic news Langley-loper😊... Well done to you. Bet you had a great day after that...

Now, 9k is not that much further, there is nothing to worry about😉.... seriously take it steady and you will do it fine. Are you doing shorter runs inbetween?

I may well take two rest days now with that niggle. Please keep posting your progress you are doing brilliantly 😊x
