Haven't posted for a while but I still read the posts to keep abreast of what's going on. It great to see so many taking up the challenge and graduating, I know it can be difficult at times but persevere and you can do it! I never started until I retired and wish now that I started earlier, I'm not fast and never will be but I enjoy the different routes and scenery and I enjoy it! 😎

Life and training for events has held me back from posting, poor excuse I know but I am interested in how people are doing and this is a good site for getting advice. Since I graduated I have entered numerous local events, completed my first half marathon in Sept and about to run the Great South Run for the third year.

I've encouraged my grandson to take the challenge and he has now completed 12 parkruns and running the GSR with me on Oct 22. I don't think I'll be able to keep up with him as his legs are a bit livelier than mine, but I will finish. Its a great atmosphere at events and a chance to meet up with runners who have started from C25K. 😎

If anyone on here is also running the GSR and would like to meet up and say hello, we usually meet in the family meeting area under the letter 'C' about 10am or at the beer bus when you've finished the run. It's good to have a chat and a pint! 👍 Hope to meet some of you on the day! The pic is of me and the grandson, running for the Royal British Legion.

How marvellous you both are running. I am envious of your gsr coming up. I trained for 10 miles ready for the gsr but life has got in the way and I don't have a running partner anymore. Annoyingly I have hit 10 miles in training but am having trainer issues with both old and new. Another new pair is ready and waiting in the box, I am hoping these will be great! Anyway, enjoy the gsr and I look forward to hearing all about it , although slightly obviously!!

Hi Frank! Lovely photo and great that you are still running with your grandson - enjoy the GSR next week!😀 I would love to have run it again but have only just hit 10k after a summer on the injury couch. Next year, hopefully! I think there are a couple of folk on here who may be running it. Good luck, enjoy and let us all know how you get on. 🙂

Thank you and it can be a very enjoyable habit. You don't have to be some kind of speed machine to take part, a steady run/walk is ok, the experience and friendliness I've found is just great. Keep up the good work and enjoy yourself.

Just remember that home straight into the wind is only the same as doing the return leg of Southsea parkrun. But a bit of a shocker in this weekend's weather forecast.
