If it's not one thing, it's another!

Over the last few weeks, I started to accept that my foot may take a lot longer to heal/repair that I ever could have anticipated - and the nature of the injury could mean the complete end of my running "career". But during this time, I also joined my local gym and actually started to create a new habit - called "going to the gym daily" . Weight machines of all kinds - rowing machines and ellipticals for the cardio. Now a bout of head cold which has moved to the chest has put a stop to all that as well. Maybe it is time to go back to excessive drinking again!!! :(

Oh dear! And: No, don't! And look after yourself, take the down time your body seems to need and come back bigger and better than ever.

Do you not have a rest day Bazza? Maybe your body is asking for a little rest 😕

Excessively drinking water you mean? Careful you don't drown!

Seriously though, look after yourself. I'm sure you'll be back in the gym in no time.

Hey Bazza - I don't believe you can keep a good man down and you're a good man and an inspiration to many - so I'm sure you'll be back whether it be gymming or running - but you'll be back and probably all the better for the rest. :)

Nooooooo, you can't go back, I understand it must be so frustrating, if I know you, you will be back on here with some great words of wisdom about how to bolster your immune system when it is a bit tired. You have a knack of taking a problem dissecting it and coming up with a great solution. Take care Rfc x.

Oh no! Sorry to hear about your head cold, very frustrating especially with your gym routine. But once you are better you will soon get back in the habit I am sure. You could always take up knitting! 😉 Take care

The head cold will go. Your attitude is credit to the change running has made in your life. I'm sure there is a physio exercise/ orthotic/ running technique that will get you running on that foot again - eventually :)

Oh no Bazza - I'm sure a little hot toddy wouldn't do any harm!!!

Hope you recover soon.

That's really frustrating Bazza - it's hard to keep the faith sometimes when injury and illness keep us out. But you will get back, I am sure! I have had to take another short break following the compensatory niggles I developed after returning to running following my nerve damage. On the plus side, I am on holiday (☺) but am now desperate to get back to where I was before injury! Hang on in there and hope you feel better soon.

I'm at that awkward stage at which after 10 weeks since the small fracture occurred, the X-ray is showing kind of maybe it is in the early stages of healing and maybe it isn't. The fact that the pains is mostly gone sounds positive. So can I walk on it? - run on it? - well, maybe you can and maybe you can't - come back in another 6 weeks and we will have another look at it. :( So - up to 16 weeks for a bad ankle turn which resulted in a very small fracture - but of course no MRI has therefore not identified what soft tissue damage there has been.

Good opportunity to work on the mindfulness/meditation etc...

Hmm - I can't say that meditation/mindfullness is part of my makeup :)

I do find it amusing that people (not just you by any means) who have done C25K are so willing to say this...

But seriously... it is important... you don't have to choose a route that involves more "Woo" than you can handle (chanting, sitting cross legged not obligatory), but it is as important to your future health as activity. I am dealing with a dying (slowly at the moment but faster than expected) parent who has allowed his life to revolve around exercise and who refused to acquire the skill of 'being' or moderation (so if it's not 'full on' cardio he won't do it). It's not pretty.

That is not me - I am not into "extreme" anything. And I like to enjoy quiet times in quiet beautiful places (one of the reasons I like to come to the UK) - but I don't care to give that quietness/something a name.

If you can access quiet times in whatever circumstances you find yourself, jobs a good 'un.
