My friends think I am a bit Mad.

I sent an email round to a load of my mates this morning wondering if they would like to train to do this with me next year (2018). The general opinion that came back was that I am as mad as a hatter and will probably be on my own if I want to do it.

My thinking is that I need a carrot to get me motivated and I will not be fit enough this year but in 14 months time I should be if I work at it and I think this is achievable. I have been warned by the physio, it is use or lose it scenario as far as core and upper body goes at my age after a major op, so I am determined I'm not going to lose it but have been looking for a suitable carrot and I think this is it.

I think I will really worry if you all think I'm mad too πŸ˜€.

Well - there is chocolate at the end!

Exactly, that has to be a plus hasn't it! πŸ˜€πŸ«πŸ«πŸ«

Oh! I've just come across these guys! They do a barrel race at they end of July... booze is involved and you can run it in teams. Maybe your mates would be more interested in that?

It's pretty pricey though.

Hehe knowing my mates they might like that one better. Your right it is pricey but I've paid for my HM in March next year already and if I only pay for one event next year I can save for it and pay February so I will only have to put 6 months of Β£10 away and have a break for xmas. πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€.

Go for it!!! I almost entered something like this (Rough Runner) but got a bit freaked out registering when it started talking about injury, paralysis and risk of death. But that's just me and my paranoia! It looks like a good laugh and a great adventure to work towards/use as a carrot :) X

I think I might freak out with a start like that too. My main aim for the next 12 months is to learn to do an unaided pull up. So this will help keep me motivated πŸ˜€.

Wow !! That looks amazing , I would say go for it , I think you are more than capable of this with your previous form of strength training / body building / swimming , I certainly think you could do it !

Although it is my dream to live by the sea, I am a rubbish swimmer and anything involving water would scare the bejaysus out of me to be honest ! Fair play to you for considering giving it a go :-) xxx

I love the water but I do like the fact they test the water on the day to make sure it's safe 😳😳😳😳. That's the Thames for you. One person said to me today "at your age". Well that's just a red rag to a bull I'm afraid. πŸ˜€.

Ah I knew you would take no notice of the gloom- mongerers T .

I'm sure that will spur you on . Maybe its pure and simple jealousy ? xxx

Looks absolutely crazy but a lot of fun. Beyond me because I have such weak arms and trying unsuccessfully to get over those obstacles would make me laugh which would make my arms even weaker...

.... but a great target for you to aim for if you're looking for a challenge. And the chocolate at the end has got to be more incentive than a carrot ;)

My body has lost so much tone in three months, I think that's why I want to set the bar a bit high. I still keep thinking is it for the younger ones then thinking Noooooo, I can do it πŸ˜€.

Definitely mad, but aren't we all.

I would hate the water parts, but the rest sounds like great fun. Go for it!

My lovely Mum always used to say my madness was part of my great personality hehe but then she was very biased. πŸ˜€. I think it will be fun training for it, doing it I think I will spend the time wondering why, but I do with most of my events anyway and I always love the feeling as I cross the finish line πŸ˜€.

I think I'm going to, it excites me and that always a good indicator of things to do in life πŸ˜€.
