A very quiet (and muddy) one!🙂😕

Tapering now for next week's Bath Half, so out for an 8k run on the trails this morning. We had heavy rain earlier this morning but I wasn't expecting it to be quite as muddy as it was! Some tracks were almost unrunnable they were so slippy and on many others it was just a case of ploughing through the standing water as there was no way round! Unusually I didn't meet another soul - no dog walkers, cyclists or other runners - just little ol' lonely me! It was mostly fun but I do confess to allowing those pesky gremlins out of their box once or twice - telling me it felt quite hard and "you've got to run almost 3 x this next weekend". I did eventually manage to silence them, telling them they 'know nothing'and I've done the distance twice already. 😛 I guess this is normal as I always doubt myself before an organised event. Roll on next weekend - I think I just want to get on with it now!

Well done Sandra!those gremlins eh? You'll be fine! Yes i was at parkrun yesterday thinking "you'll have to do 4 times this plus mud and hills" next Saturday but looking forward to it!😊

Hi SandraJ,

Regarding that little box that you take out on your runs, just throw it into the deepest puddle you can find.

That way you can see if those pesky gremlins can swim.

You will also confirm, who actually has the fortitude to complete the HM.

Yes, it's you and you know that you can smash it!

Good luck on your taper week, I can't wait to read about your HM, I bet you will love the entire event and obviously the bling.

Your going to feel fantastic, all the hard training will pay off, I bet that you will be grinning from ear to ear.

Thanks wanawig! Great idea about those gremlins..I don't think they could stay the course anyway! How have things been for you since your half marathon? I expect you are well recovered now and thinking of your next goal?🙂

Good stuff Sandra. That's the right approach for those impassable puddles, I think. Trying to tippy-toe around the edges of the them takes ages and you end up just as wet and caked in mud. Best just to get stuck in and wade through it.

My sister has done the race before and it is not known for being too hilly (she could be lying), although I believe there's a bit of a long slow incline (hill!) at the end of the course, which we run twice! I have been including hills in my training - so we shall see!😮
