10 bleeping seconds. 😫

Went out for my 7km today as I was on the home stretch I realised I could maybe do 7km in an hour or under. I dug deep and ran with everything I had left and really thought I was going to do it but I ended up 10 seconds out. 10 seconds. Normally who cares about ten seconds but today I wish I could of pulled it from somewhere. Next time.

As Bazza1234 would say, close enough is good enough when training!

Great run rfc! Time to celebrateπŸƒπŸ»β€β™€οΈπŸ˜€

Hehe, No, my brain won't let me accept it. I'm a bit pedantic about it, I wish it would. Might celebrate the closeness though πŸ˜€.

Soooooo close.

Oooohhh! Nearly! Well done.

Did you have traffic lights or roads you'd to pause at along the route? If you take them into account, you've smashed that hour!

I was probably equally annoyed this morning when I got home and found that the route that I had thought was slightly over 10k was only 9.7k. If I'd known that, I'd have run to the end of the street and back just to round it up. At least that translates as (just) over 6 miles, so I'll switch to miles just for today. Sounds better. :)

9.7 km 😬, that would get to me too. So close. I finished a fun run once at 4.7km and was on a PB, I ran around the finish line till my garmin caught up, my family thought I was bonkers. I'm such a stats girl, to me it's all part of the fun.

I was told that races are properly measured, and it's our watches that are wrong. I'm happy to believe that! You earned that PB fair and square!

If its any consolation RFC I ran my 5k PB at park run on Saturday - 35m 10 secs. How I wish I could have lost those final 10 (or even 11) somewhere. Next time as you say. But at least its achievable for both of us. Go RFC!

0h wow 35:10, that's a great time, well done. We will beat those pesky 10 seconds I'm sure of it.

Next time, RFC.

I came across someone at my last Parkrun who had 3 consecutive finishing times between 30:02 and 30:08 (30:02 being his PB!).

Next time πŸ˜€. I know usually I'm within about 20-30 seconds but today was a really good run and it came down by quite a bit.

I know, BUT! As you can tell it's still getting to me πŸ˜€.

At my last HM last year, I was doing much better thna I expected and realised at around the 10K mark that I couold possibly gte in under that 2 hour 30 minutes mark. This proved itself to be true until I go to the 18 klm mark on the course and realised that my garmin was just a little bit out in its calculations of how far I had run and therefore the average pace it was telling me was also incorrect. A quick mental calculation then told me that I might fail to meeat that 2 hours 30 minutes by a very small margin - seconds - so I had to up the pace over the last 3.1 klms to ensure that I got in , in time!!! nearly killed me that did!!! :)

Hehe I know what you mean, most of the time my brain can be a bit slower for maths but give me a garmin and and and an event and I can do amazing things On the hop. πŸ˜€.

That is so annoying! Is that your moving time, though? Even if so, you will do it next time, I'm sure. Statistics - they rule :/

The problem was it was a fast training session for me, I'm just hoping I don't have to wait too long.

I feel for you. In November I ran a half marathon in 2 hours 16 seconds.........arrrggghhhh.

Ran another 6 days later in 1 hour 57 minutes so the pain was short lived but nothing hurts more than missing your target by such a fine margin.

You will smash it next time. Hang in there!

Oh No, 16 seconds that is so close. Great times by ththe way. I'm determined to get there eventually.
