My first stamina run @ 4am, plus big plans for 2017.

Hi everyone,

I was up before the larks at 3.45 and I hit the pavement at 4am. Laura told me about the benefits of the stamina run and how it will build me up.

I headed down the hill for my warmup walk and was pleased that it was so warm with slightly damp air gusting all around me. Reaching sea level my warm up was complete. Off I trotted keeping to the beat, it's lovely when in the distance I can see a spruce twinkling with xmas lights and swaying in the breeze. Its like a beacon welcoming me to the five minute point, I then head along the causeway running along Chesil Beach. Reaching the second roundabout I turn right and head off towards the National Sailing Academy. Laura's tips are well timed, keeping me on track along with the beat. I'm speeding up a little but with keeping to the beat I find my breathing is fine. The whole route is bathed in a gentle orange glow from the street lighting. I'm now running along the Harbour path, heading towards Portland Castle. When I reached the Castle I hit the 25 minute point., From the Castle its uphill all the way home, the last five minutes were faster still and before I knew it Laura was congratulating me. The Stamina run is fantastic, Im doing it three more times this week. Saturday will be more fun as that will be in daylight.

I know that I have only just completed the couch to 5k, but I have decided that in 2017 ( My 60th Year) I'm going to complete a Half Marathon.

I will no doubt be asking you all for some advice over the coming months.

I hope you all had a great day and a good run.

All the best.

Wahay! Well done ☺ I love the Stepping Stones podcasts. Speed is a challenge! good though ☺

Half marathon! I waited til I was about 57 before doing my first half. Just done another one 😊 I wish I'd started earlier but life's too short for regrets ☺

If you put the hours into training you will be fine. A proper plan is a good idea as it means you don't run too much

Good luck

Thanks for the lovely message and advice.

I'm not going to over do the training.

I have already ordered a training log and Half Marathon Training by Hal Higdon.

All the best and enjoy your runs.

Wow fantastic what a great goal for 2017! I also will be in my 60th year next year too but not sure I'd make a half marathon!!! Taking baby steps 10k first as I'm a slow runner takes me 44mins to do5k!! But who knows!!! It was a good year 1957😂😂enjoy !!🏃🏃🏃🏃

57 is a very good year and a great sauce to boot.

Thanks for your message and support.

Your "Taking baby steps" should be translated as,

"Using common sense". So good on you.

Good luck with your 10K

All the best and enjoy your runs.

I absolutely love to hear the enthusiasm in your words. And you must be very very comitted to be out and about at that time of the day. Well done you, and with this attitude I have no doubt that you will reach your HM goal!

Hi Tomas,

Thanks for the message of support.

I have started to look into a training book and a running log.

I have no problems with early rising, and in 7 days it will start to get even better. The Winter Solstice will have happened and daylight will start to appear earlier and earlier with each morning. Yippee!

All the best and enjoy all your runs.
