My glutes and me.

Back from the physio today after seeing the wonderful Adam. Luckily he has told me that I can continue to walk and run, but I have to get up and move if there is a lot of sitting to be done. So with two hospital appointments next week I will be doing some walking and standing as well as sitting.

My sacroiliac joint is niggly but the main cause is tight glutes. And lack of Stregnth in them. So I have been given my own glute challenge for the next two weeks.

I found it strange he had me doing the glute bridge and some squats. I have been doing these but not found them particularly challenging so he had me do one legs squats and one leg glute bridges which really got deep into my muscles. He said that even though I have been doing these stregnthing moves they were not working and getting deep into the muscles that needed it so I have to do the harder ones. I did a few with him around 3 hours ago and boy can I feel it in my quads and glutes. I really think these new exercises are going to be really good for me three times a week. I also have to do stretches every day.

It just goes to show I thought I knew what was going on but have come away with a much better perspective of what's is really happening.

It's great you have a good physio. And one legged squats and bridges? Hardcore!

IT feels hardcore tonight 😳 but in a good way, maybe it will all help with my speed long term.

Ah this sounds great, I am so pleased that you've got to the " bottom " ;-) of it.

The physio I saw 2 years ago , told me that " its all in the glutes " and because mine were weak , it was causing the pain in my hips.

I was given the very same exercises and they sorted my problem out .

This sounds really positive and now you've got your diagnosis and the exercises to do , you can work on resolving this. Plus you can still walk and run, so its really good news isn't it ?

So glad you've got sorted T :-) xxx

Thank you Pops, Hehe love the pun! I'm a bit annoyed with myself letting my strength and core work lapse a bit as things got busy. But I'm back on the case now.

All sounds positive really. Good stuff!

And you might win "Rear of the Year" once you've perfected those glutes...

Thank you, i will be happy with a little more speed 😀. It'll be worth the pain I think these growing muscles will bring.

I have been dabbling recently but with no real conviction, after yesterday I'm determined to get into it as I was so surprised at the weakness it has caused, I can run for know but probably left to its own devises I think that would change. Good luck with your glute and squat work.

One legged squats? That's a belly dance move! Get your self something sparkly and jingly to work out in!

Hehe I like the thought of doing belly dancing moves, somewhere in the house there is a pair of mini finger cymbals my Dad bought me as a present on how to become a belly dancer. I will hunt them out 😀.

Belly is great for your core, and for co-ordination, and is easy to learn. I can see you doing that!
