Lesson learned for sure!

The week before last I did my first 5k run.........my was I thrilled! I'm slow but hey ho, a slow 5k is as far as a fast 5k is my ongoing mantra! A few days later I did a hill interval session. All ok at this point, I run hills all the time as I cannot avoid them where I live. Then by mistake I did a Stamina pod+ session, I should have been doing a Stepping Stones.

The last few days my knees have let me know that increasing distance and speed etc all at same time is not a good thing, especially for new graduates!

So I have been resting, applying ice and undertaking knee strengthening exercises.

I woke up this morning to find my old knees are feeling much better yeayyyyyyy! Tomorrow I may venture out for a short test run. And then rebuild slowly!

I am starting a fuller running log so that I have a clear record of my runs, I do not wish to make the same mistake again that's for sure๐Ÿ˜ญ

Can anyone recommend a specific log please?

Happy running all๐Ÿ˜ƒ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป

Great post, we all have niggles from time to time, the important thing is to take action. I have managed to build up my distances again recently but have a knee niggle, so might have two days rest before venturing out again. Frustrating but necessary

Niggly knees.. they are everywhere, I may have to compose a rhyme! Eeek! But currently am working on a cartoon for mfamilias 's Gary the Gremlin! So we are all safe from that for now!

Hope it is all good for your run tomorrow... I am just back in after a short run.. but a slog.. damp and hilly... the tracks and lanes , not me!

Well done on taking it sensibly... I keep a log, but in a little notebook ( boring eh?) and use my posts too to see what I have done!

Can't wait :) Gary is striding around the cavity where my brain should be in his undies and his sunglasses, practicing his speech for when he becomes a Gremlin VIP. This could keep him busy whilst I get my 10k done later today, woohoo!

Thanks Oldfloss , I am thinking I'll go down the notebook route myself too. On line there are some pointers about what to include as a starting point! Look forward to seeing Gary the Gremlin! ๐Ÿ˜†

I copied all my forum posts into a personal blog. Not to bore my non-runner friends, just as a record for myself

I would write it down too, if I was organised enough to keep a log, which I'm not. My Garmin does the slog for me - gives me all details of my run bar the colour of my knickers and which way the wind was blowing. Take care of your knees and listen to your body -if something hurts, leave it be until it's better.

I'm ok on colour of my knickers thanks mfamilias , I generally go for black when running.......I have visions of my black capris or leggings splitting whilst I out there.........so I play it pretty safe๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm wondering if my Christmas list should have a Garmin on it, I'm using MapmyRun at the moment.

I think the notebook will be my starting point ๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“š

I'm in high visu everything at the moment, right down to my kecks.. The hunting season has started over here, and the locals aren't exactly the brightest bulbs on the shelf. That's BEFORE they've had their apรฉritif and picked up their guns. I'm a symphony of garish - they can't say they didn't see me.

The Garmin is a godsend - I'm secretly hoping for one I can talk to, like in Knight Rider.

I started C25K with a simple checklist on OneNote. I planned my running days and ticked them off as I did them (or adjusted them if I needed to). I kept it and continued until I had done each of the 5k+ at least three times, although it didn't stop me running Stamina when I was expecting Speed!

I have now added the Bridge to 10K to my list.

But being an ex-Business Analyst, I couldn't resist having a spreadsheet with my achievements as well.

Thanks for this RunaroundSue . There are also lots of free download-able running log spreadsheets on line. I can't decide if I want a hard copy or an electronic. Guess that's my starting point - to decide!

I set up my own spreadsheet with all the details I need. That and Runkeeper provides most of the data I want.

Thanks JaySeeSkinny . I maygo down that route myself. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ

That's what I did, I couldn't find a suitable one , although excel does have a Workout Log template

Having a titter at the high vis running gear comment. I had an evening run recently, a 12k to do, as part of my half marathon plan. I donned my high viz outfit from Lidl and set off in the dark.

At a vital point in the proceedings my bowels started to gurgle and I felt the immediate need to "go" All I can say is my decision to go high viz was the worst idea I have ever had. How to crouch down in a field in front of a row of houses wearing all reflective clothing and not be seen. I must have been visible from Mars!!!!

I once nipped into a field on a group cycle ride. I was behind a wall or hedge, but forgot that my cycle helmet was bright yellow, so everyone knew where I was. And why!
