Loving Southsea parkrun

My running addiction meant I got the family up super early this morning to complete the Southsea parkrun before visiting the Portsmouth uni open day. What a fab course, basically 2.5 K along the sea front and 2.5k back. I got a PB of 32.56, cutting a full minute from my previous best! it looks like I'm going to have to visit again if I can show that sort of improvement πŸ˜€

Wahay! Well done you! Sea front parkrun sounds lovely. Til winter comes 😁

You'll now have parkrun addiction to add to your running one 😊

Well done you! I'm enjoying park runs too. Yesterday was my 6th. I was visiting Richmond in London /Surrey. Lovely flat course and a small crowd so I got a PB there. Very pleased as I'm not getting out for a run as often as I should.

Southsea is my home parkrun and I do it most weeks. I missed it last weekend (was away, did Bushy Park). Look out for me if you do it again, although you are faster than me! Definitely a good run except when there is a strong southwesterly wind!

We were really lucky with the wind, I can imagine it must be really tough when it's blowy! There were very friendly volunteers and a lovely atmosphere

Will definitely be back if darling daughter gets into Portsmouth uni. Luckily she also is looking at Sussex (Brighton) and Cardiff, so I should be able to get some parkrun tourism wherever she goes.

Have you got any recommendations for other park runs if you're a regular traveler?

I have done a few of the London ones - Bushy Park, Richmond Park, Southwark and also Sheffield Hallam and Rutland Water. All of them were great. The first two single laps in large open spaces, Rutland a nice out and back along the lakeshore, the other two multi laps of inner city parks. Portsmouth has a 2nd run at Lakeside, I haven't done it (it's where I used to work so the idea gives me the heebygeebies) but it's probably a nice run.

Well done biscuit, I was there too as we live in Southsea. You were well ahead of me though. My PB was 33:50 (Parkrun time). The conditions were lovely today with no westerly wind on the homeward stretch. The course was moved because of the great south run this weekend.

And I like Portsmouth lakeside too but it includes inclines and doesn’t have that fantastic view.
