My new training plan - something new/old.

Two weeks today is my HM so training is on the down turn a bit then I need to recover and then start something new.

As many of you know I'm ducking out of events for a little while.  I was sat thinking about my running yesterday and working out my favourite runs so I can have a lot of fun.  The one thing my mind kept coming back to was when I was doing the program.  I used to put all my gear out the night before creep quietly out of bed get dressed and out the front door and do my run then come back glowing, happy and ready to face the day.  That's when I have got the biggest buzz from running.

I stopped doing these runs because anything 5km or over I need breakfast as I start to feel a little wobbly while I'm out on empty an stomach.

So the plan is I'm cutting my running back to 3km short runs but every other day first thing. With a long one  (7-10km) occasionally. This way I could go for a swim or do some weights later if I wanted but I could get back to feeling that old buzz.

Also my husband is trying to get fitter so we are using my heart rate monitor to go for speed walks together.  He wears the monitor and I wear my watch so I can keep an eye on pace and his heart rate so we can build up slowly.  So I Hopefully will have enough energy to do both.

I'm looking forward to it.  It's the perfect time to get up and out early.

Happy healthy running to all.

Sounds like a good plan. The fitter you both are the better. And good to find something that gives you a buzz - you might find yourself getting faster on the shorter runs. I love running in the morning, it does set you up for the day! And if it's not working for you, you can always change your plan again, no pressure! The main thing is to enjoy😎

Thank you.  Its something I was thinking about.  If I went for a 30 min run then I have a chance at a further distance.  Maybe I would be better doing that than a distance?

Sounds like an excellent plan RFC. I too used to do all my running first thing in the morning, stealing out of bed at 5:30 to get my run, shower and breakfast in before leaving for work at 8am. You're so right, it is a great way to run providing the distance is reasonably short. Think I may join you in the early starts again when I'm able to.

I'm not sure I could do 5.30.but there really is something about setting your day up.  Hope your out there soon.

That sounds like a great plan RFC.  Those short runs are really enjoyable, I've found. I can only run for 20 minutes at a time at the minute but must admit it's lovely. No pressure, it's quick, perks me up without being knackering. I can't comment on your early morning plan as I don't run first thing but I can imagine how gorgeous and peaceful that can be. Enjoy your running!

Glad your healed and getting back out there must be a relief. Take it steady.

I remember I used to feel so energized and I got so much extra stuff done.  It was like someone gave me an extra hour in my day.  Hopefully I'm not looking back with rose coloured spoecs😀.

3 K is a lovely distance, perfect for when you don't have much time, and when you feel a bit more energetic you can hammer it! Enjoy x

That's a great idea :)  I must admit, I'm a morning runner because it gives me a buzz and I still have all the day left to go at.  The shorter distances will mean you're still out there running but you're not overstressing yourself - sounds like a good compromise.
