Blood tests as a tool to reveal response to treatment

Breast tumour DNA circulating in the bloodstream could be used to measure how well a woman’s cancer is responding to treatment, according to a new Cancer Research UK study published in the New England Journal of Medicine.

  • Yeah, Ganesh. CTC (Circulating tumour cells) is an interesting area of research. Lot needs to be done, though. Slow and steady, it is happening!

  • Yes Dr. Sumeet shah You are right, And Circulating tumour cells (CTC) do act as prognostic value and lots of western companies do offer this service finding out CTC in the patient's blood. As well as CTC plays a major role in spread of the disease (metastasis).
