No precautions as such. Just tell her to lead a good healthy life, with a balanced diet, some form of exercises and continue her regular visits to her Oncologist as told to her.

Hello Poorni - also see that in front of her not to discuss all the times any topic of cancer. This will take her away from the fear of cancer.

Since ahe was ER positive ,she should avoid estrogen containing foods .Notable one is soyabean. It contains compounds called phytoestrogens which are estrogens produced by plants.Take your dietitian advice further on this point. And since it was very small tumor ahe has excellent prognosis. She should not miss appointments with Oncologist or surgeons and never skip follow ups which are essentially life long follow up.

Thank you so much for the reply.I just came to know that there was a less than 1mm microinvasion element. But the doctors advised her only radiation for 28 days and no chemo.she is on armatroz .... For 5 years.

Professional advice without understanding a patient's situation, is beyond scope of this forum and, is in fact, very harmful. If I advise something, and your doc advises something else, you will be in a catch 22 situation, and start doubting your doc, even though he may be right and I may be wrong, since he has assessed the patient in detail and I haven't. Please understand, that it takes a full session of almost 30 minutes to understand a cancer patient and to decide tests. They vary from patient to patient, even for same age and stage. There is much more to a cancer patient than just a few reports. If you feel your questions have not been adequately answered by your presently Oncologist, I suggest you to meet them and request for some time and I am sure they will be answered to your satisfaction; alternately, you may go for a formal second opinion with someone else in your city.

Most Oncologist who follow standard evidence based guidelines will not advice PET scan at early stage breast carcinoma. So rest assured and follow Oncologist advice ,radiation should be taken first.

At this stage if you do PET ,in post surgical period the operative area lightens up and doesn't yield information in that area.So it has to be referred till healing of tissues.

Yes .Since the measurements are in mm ,she is not requiring any chemo therapy. So fortunate!Continue that anti estrogen treatment Armatroz .She will definitely cure.

Your friend's situation is very similar to mine. I had a lumpectomy with clean margins, followed by radiation, and the 5 year pill routine - no chemo advised. My center did / does followup mastectomies which have all given good reports. The whole experience was traumatic at the time, but I rarely even think about it now - only to remind myself to do self exams and schedule my mammograms. I follow no special diet other than limiting soy - a healthy balanced diet and exercise is the basic advice that I got from everyone. Your friend is fortunate to have found her cancer early, and to have a friend like you! You may find that she sometimes needs to talk about her experience., and perhaps some lingering fears. Let her know that you are there to listen. We all need a friend who is a good listener sometimes.

Agh! Sometimes computers are too helpful. Mastectomies above should have been followup mammograms. Sorry! I fixed it.
