Update following bone scan and CT scan...

Good evening. For those that have been following my recent posts regarding receiving results of a bone scan done last month whereby it showed 'hotspots' in 1 rib and left femur/hip which then warranted my having an urgent CT scan which I had last monday, well I received a call the following morning to tell me the results which not only showed subtle bone changes in those 'hotspots' but also and I quote from hospital letter received today 'multiple deposits in liver' 'a 23mm mass in right lung' and another abnormal are just behind the lung mass which is significantly presenting of having coronavirus which I strongly believe I had but over Christmas as had all the symptoms and was bed bound with a very sore chest, fever, chills, no energy etc...I have mentioned this to consultant over the phone and he agreed a possible of a coronavirus but not the covid19 we are currently dealing with. Anyway I digress...so on Thursday I am going for a liver biopsy to check that it is a metastases of my breast cancer and not a whole new cancer. I am booked in from next Wednesday to start an infusion of herceptin and perjeta and then following day chemo of which I will have 4 or 6 doses depending on my tolerance of it.

I am still in shock, feeling very up and down as I thought I had gotten away with it as this year would mark 5 years since original diagnosis. I'm 39, mum of 2 and I had just completed an online course at the beginning of the year to lead me onto a new career so I can not get my head around this but I will, I have to. I only went to my GP in February with an on/off niggle in back and hip, no other symptoms.

You must be devastated by all this info. It will take time for you to regroup and process all the info you have beeen given.

It may help to remember that nothing has changed physically between the day when you didn't know this and the day you did. What has changed is the information you have. Knowledge is power and there are so many evolving treatments these days. I wish you well

It is a really horrible shock and it’s never the news that any of us want to hear, but there are many of us living with metastatic breast cancer. There are now many treatment options and oncologists are starting to talk about it as a chronic condition.

Deep breath, take time to find your feet again and then get on with your life and your new career.

Dear Cazlav oh my dear, I am so sorry to read this. I’ve had to take some time to process it. You have my heartfelt sympathy and I’m sending loads of hugs and as much support as possible. So close! You can fight this. Positive thinking, 6 apricot kernels a day, I truly believe nature has a big part to play at this point and alternative options are worth pursuing. A friend of mine is pursuing THC, aka the hemp challenge. Cannabis can help to varying degrees of success - some excellent results are possible.

May I ask, did the liver biopsy prove positive for cancer sweetheart?

Please keep posting on here, let us offer suggestions and see if we can help.

Much love xxxx

Hi debster, thank you for your reply. I received the biopsy result last week and it confirmed the presence of the same breast cancer cells, it hasn't changed so I am on the correct treatment for it.

I have cut out all processed foods, not that I ate it often anyway but its eliminated completely now, no refined sugars and no white carbs. Plenty of fruit and veg, garlic, mushrooms, grains etc...

I had read about the apricot kernels when i was diagnosed with primary 5 years ago, i spoke with a nutritionist and they advised against as no medical evidence to back it up but plenty of evidence to show adverse effects, namely cyanide poisoning so i wont be going there!

A few days after I had the liver biopsy I was suffering from muscle spasm across my torso and could barely move or sleep due to the pain so I headed back to the hospital for a check over and strongly pain relief, it was a little blood clot that had formed at site of where needle had gone in pressing on my rib cage and causing muscles to spasm. Anyway as I was at the hospital being checked, late at night, the on duty Dr who was a locum came and sat with for 15 mins explaining how a few years ago he had been diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer, he had the conventional treatment but then decided to take things into his own hands diet and supplement wise, basically as I've described above what I am now doing. His tumour markers soon returned to normal and have remained so for the last 2 years. It was a surreal experience and he said that perhaps there was a reason I had to come back to the hospital there and then, apparently my experience following biopsy isn't that common, it certainly didn't list it as an after effect in the leaflet I was given before hand!

I had my second treatment yesterday, chemo and herceptin and perjeta. Hoping my body can go on to tolerate the recommended 6 rounds of chemo.

Take care x

Oh wow! What a positive read! Go you and doctor! Funny how things happen isn’t it? Well done, all good to hear and keep it up ✊.

I’ve also just re-looked up the Rainbow Diet by Chris Woollams for this friend who is now on palliative care bless her.

With best wishes xx
