Chemotherapy finished

Last Thursday was my last chemo of 6, I felt a bit bad for the other patients watching, as I rang that bell, but glad that bits done. My husband and I both have our surgery dates sorted now, with 2 weeks between our appointments, hopefully everything will go to plan and we will both be fighting fit for the after treatment 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Just be a bit mindful that you may feel a bit weaker the next couple of weeks with the cumulative dose of Chemo, so take it easy 🌷🌷🌷

Other people also underestimate the longer term affects, each cycle always effects you for at least two weeks, but someone the last one is harder.

It’s not over yet but those drugs are still coursing through your body.

Extremely well done to you!! 👏👏👏. Lots of luck for the surgery too. Indeed it should be all downhill from here ☺️. Lots of advice on this! Do take it easy. Remember that your body has been very carefully ‘poisoned’ (sorry, no distress intended but chemo is a form of ‘bleach’) so be kind to yourself, rest lots, take catnaps and understand it can take a while for the chemo to leave your body. Here’s a tip. Drink lots of water! It’s a truly magical medicine. And if you can manage a daily walk that is also a good healer, I believe it is one of the best medicines.

My final treatment was on board the local chemo bus so I didn’t get a chance to ring the bell but I certainly left with a massive smile on my face and an appointment to remove my pic line the next week. All good moves!

Great to hear that you got to ring the bell. It is a time for YOU to celebrate. While I admire your compassion for those still undergoing chemo, please keep in mind that their time will come to ring that bell, too, and you are an inspiration to them. I was sort of embarrassed to ring the bell with my first cancer, yet it felt so good to acknowledge that it was time to celebrate!
