Post op bras...help?!

Can anyone recommend a good online resource for information about finding & fitting bras post reconstruction?

How important is it that the bra is uncomfortably fitted immediately post op?

I got handed a bra the other day but the nurse at the hospital said at the time the fit should be very very snug. She said that's how it's meant to be because this determines how the new boob will shapev(?!?) well I'm far less swollen now and the bra at it's tightest settings is now no longer snug...it seems this hasn't occurred to her might happen - I was even given extensions.

I'd happily go get a new one (Which I would any way just bc this bra does up in the back - I find that very difficult to put on three days post op...) im worried my boobs will be a funny shape if f i don't have it fitted right...?!

Lots of best wishes for everyone

I got front fastening bras off of Amazon after my mastectomy/reconstruction. They were expandable in the cup, which was super as they just fitted round your shape, even with dressings. I found them very comfortable. X

I was recommended sports bras. There are some cotton ones in Tesco £10 for a pack of two (I think might be £12) and I still wear them now as I find them really comfortable xx

I got genies bras that you step into and pull up, did try other makes, but these went back to shape and size better after washing! Hope this helps.xx

I was given compression tops by the hospital. Like a long line bra but close fitting with adjustable fastening down the front. I now wear Genie bras or sports bras.

Breast cancer care website will supply all info you need. Marks and spencer have trained fitters and some really lovely suitable bras. If you have a prosthesis many Marks and some hospitals offer a facility for inserting pockets into a non pocket bra. It’s a case of hit or miss in the beginning but soon you’ll find something that suits you and once that happens it’s a sign that you’re on the up👌. Good luck x
