Old enough to know better !

Hello...I am new here but not new to breast cancer.A couple of weeks ago I was rummaging around in. drawer and found a Mammo Unit card saying 2007 . Thought I'd better make an appointment and last week I went for a mammogram plus U/S plus several biopsies. I get my results tomorrow and am pretty sure they are going to be positive. I had a R mastectomy in 2001 for lobular Ca. and have been fine till now.

I haven't told a soul apart from my husband and friend so far. I'm really worried about telling our 'children' who both live abroad ,so have left it till I get the results.

I'm really scared now. I'm 74 so I should know better but this waiting for results time is really difficult as you all know. It has helped getting it all down on paper (iPad !)

I hope you are doing well.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers and hope that you get good results. It is an awful waiting game. I tend to bust my mind with books, puzzles, films, walking and swimming. Sending you as much positivity as I can. Lainey xxxx

Thank you Laine...I have done crosswords and jigsaws but beyond that I have lost the power of concentration. I tried to read but found I was on the same page for ages so I gave up. Not long now.

I am the same sort of age as you. Do hope that the results whatever they are provide you with the answers you need. So difficult to distract yourself because of the butterfly mind the anxiety gives us.

You know that there are treatments that work if the news is less than good, thinking of you, do let us know how it goes.

Well I've seen the surgeon. It is breast cancer again.I have to have another biopsy tomorrow and a scan next week. The one lymph node they biopsied last week was positive. I will be having a mastectomy hopefully before next Christmas. Bit crestfallen but I'll be ok I'm sure. Thank you all for your kind posts.

Really sad to hear your news. You've been there before so know what to expect , but that doesn't mean its not devastating news. You sound pragmatic but nevertheless its bound to be a very worrying time and hugely upsetting. I hope they get the op in very soon for you and stop the cancer in its tracks. Wishing you all the best at this very tough time. Hugs Caroline xxx

Thank you. I actually had six biopsies today ! I think we're playing hunt the cancer. It must be there somewhere because of the positive lymph node. Never mind I'll know my fate soon.
