Mammogram on Friday

After having my mastectomy in December 2016 I am to have my mammogram on the other breast on Friday and I am absolutely terrified one because of the pain and two in case I get the same outcome as last year. I know I am probably being a wimp but can't help myself feeling this way. Has any one else felt like this?

You are absolutely bound to feel like this. You have been through an awful ordeal, and this will remind you and put that fear of it all starting again into you. Think positively and face this head on. I hope that you have good results.

Thank you both I know I should not be negative and think positively, I am sure on Friday when they say it is all clear I will think how stupid putting myself through all these negative thoughts.

Is very scary Maggie, I agree, I had my annual mammogram a year after diagnoses, was lucky to have it done privately so results there and then, it was fine, but made me more determined than ever to have a preventative right hand mastectomy. Which I did.. not saying that's for everyone though, I was part of the family history clinic as my mum and 2 maternal aunts died of BC so I think they look at those factors too...

Think I wound myself up more about that mammogram than all the ops I've had... hopefully the nurses will be reassuring and nice, take care, fingers crossed all goes well for you xx

Thanks Nixh you were in a worse position than me must have been horrible for you with relatives having had the same thing.

I am in France and thankfully I do get the results the same day but no tea and sympathy here just fact.

Will post with the result. xx

You are no wimp and quite rightly feeling apprehensive no matter all the good news stories we read here

I had my first mammogram recently after my lumpectomy and radiotherapy , recently and felt sick to my stomach for a few weeks before thinking what if what if - it is natural as the supportive ladies told me when I wrote a similar story on this forum

I received good news and my surgery anniversary is 1 year tomorrow - what a difference a year makes :-)

Wishing you al the very best try and be positive and fingers crossed for a good outcome :-) x

Hello Ladies, all over and result was clear all that worry for nothing.

Just need to wait now to see the surgeon next month to find out what else he is going to do.
