My first chemo treatment this morning. Quick question sorry for the indelicate nature of this one. How often does nausea become actually being sick please? Thank you.

Hi Debster2016

Have the Unit given you an anti emetic to stop you feeling sick?

I was only sick after the first Chemo, just the once & was never sick again or felt nauseous, the new Anti Sickness Meds are very good.

Read your Wig update with Interest 💁🏻💁 I'm wearing my Ginger/Chocolate today & my husband spotted it straight away!

If you feel nauseous/and or are sick let the Chemo Unit know.

Drink plenty of water today especially to flush the toxins out!

Take Care & don't forget ask any thing you need to know 💐

Thanks MrsN yes I think I was given 2 anti emetics during treatment. Have nowbeen a little sick and rung the unit, been reassured and advised to take the extra anti emetic I was sent home with.

Drinking lots of water! And husband is here so that's good 🙂.

I used chrystalised ginger it worked well. I couldnt bear the taste of a cup of tea so you might have some things u cant stand. Heres hoping its not chocolate x

Haha thanks Gypsywhyte I shall test the chocolate theory before giving it up!

Just had a pot of ginger green tea as that was the only thing I could keep hold of when had upset tummy last Christmas (and I thought that was bad 😳😄). But my husband has just pointed out that it's, er out of date............doh!

Thanks for the tip, crystallised ginger in now on tomorrow's shopping list x

I had FEC-T chemo. The first chemo I felt really sick in the evening although didn't actually vomit. After speaking to my oncologist at the next appointment, I started taking a domperidone tablet ( these are the ones you can take as required up to 3 times a day as required) as soon as I got home. I didn't have too much nausea afterwards, just felt a little queasy at times. The T part of the chemo didn't make me feel sick at all. I think it's a case of trying different times to take your anti sickness tablets to see what suits you xx

I was never actually sick. I was given anti sickness tablets and felt extremely tired. Due to circumstances I missed one dose and had loads more energy so didn't take them for the rest of my chemo.

Ooh that's interesting thank you Angelmum. And you still weren't sick? X

Not at all. I had 5 months of 2 different types of Chemo and only had the anti sickness they give with the Chemo no tablets at all after the first time. Hope you feel better soon and stay positive.

Thank you all very much for your replies. I am hoping may expecting to feel better after a few days (3 rather than 7!) and realise the first chemo is - supposed to be! - the most unkind in more ways than that. So I wait to hear what my oncologist suggests and am grateful for the information given above to ask about if it's not mentioned.

For the record I feel better now 😁.

❤️😘
