Oh boy ... can I get off this ride pls

Well that's not fun ... just been told my consultant has left the island and we have a new lady who hasn't a clue what has happened to me and I have to decided if she drains off the fluid in my breast which is bulging strange shapes 150 MLS which surprised her (told you so ) ... where is the report from the ultrasound chap from the day before condersending male .... bless her she sat down and asked questions and listened but telling me I've a lot further to go nearly got her a mouthful of abuse note nearly lucky for her my hubby took hold of my hand which made me cry instead ... I knew it wouldn't be an easy ride but I didn't expect to feel mutualated and invisible as a person ... just a body.

Then to be told that the referral to the oncologist that was send 4 weeks ago hadn't arrived and a new one was send a week tuesday but don't worry he only has a 3 week back log because of Christmas and will be back on the island this week .... island life is great but not when the new huge hospital acts like a cottage hospital ....

so low and tired, rheumatoid arthritis is flaring up had no meds for 2 months due to antibiotics and what's to come .... sorry for the rant I know there are people a lot worse than I ... so pick myself up dust me down and put that smile back on my face .... sorry ๐Ÿ˜

  • You rant all you like !! You're feeling let down and unsupported by the medical team .. Try and remain strong & positive ... Don't let anyone beat you down .... Good luck xxxx

  • Thank you I'm usually positive but not this last couple of days ... so deep breath in no matter how much it hurts and slowly out ๐Ÿ™‚ Not going to win aliens aftermath xxx

  • Hey there Aliensx2, absolutely no sorrys allowed ๐Ÿ˜˜ Regardless who is at what stage or who is worse off that who, we are all facing a truly shitty battle, however, when that battle is made more difficult by the ineptness of the people who are supposed to be looking after you, it makes that battle harder, creates untold stress - which you really do not want. Is there a possibility of you getting treatment at a mainland hospital at all? You sound off all you like, We are here to listen to and support each other. I live in Ireland and have been so very lucky with the team who look after me. Only once I saw a different person who didnt know me from Adam, but my oncologist popped in and all was good. I only had that feeling of "oh shit, I have to go through all this again..." for a nano second to feel 'invisible and a mere number', so I can only imagine how you feel. I hope it all improves soon and you can go back to truly enjoying island life. Big hugs xxx

  • Huge hugs ๐Ÿค— back at yer thank you ๐Ÿ˜˜๐Ÿ˜˜

  • Hi, so sorry to hear what's happened to you, plus any treatment around Christmas & NY are always fraught with issues because of the Bank Holidays.

Maybe they'll be able to bring you to the front of the list because your referral was 'lost'

Which island are you on? I used to work with a chap who used to fly to the Isle of Man for his Oncology Clinics, this was a long time ago.

Hope you can get things sorted out & your RA doesn't get too painful without the Meds. I had to stop my Methotrexate before my Mastectomy, I have PMR but had Hydrocortisone in theatre & then they increased my steroids so l didn't get chance to miss it before the Chemo started.

Let us know how you get on

    Best Wishes ๐Ÿ’

  • I'm on the Isle of Man ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ฒ ๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿฆ‹๐Ÿ˜˜

  • Hi Aliens2 so sorry to hear this and it's the right place to vent, as I've learned ๐Ÿ˜Œ - thank you ladies. Wish I could do more to help! Sending lots of best wishes for a helpful resolution to you and of course much โค๏ธ. Xx
