Hi ladies. Well today's the day I have my mastectomy and reconstruction . Feeling nervous about the op as have been fortunate to get to 58 and never been in hospital or had a General Anaesthetic . However also just want to get on with it now, come out the other side , and start the recovery process. I have a great support network of family and friends and of course you guys so am feeling positive about the journey ahead whatever that brings. Will update as soon as I can . Best wishes to all Karen xx

Kazzerp I had bilateral masectomy n reconstruction 3wks 2day. Recovery has been painful but alot betta than expected emotionally. Slight complication where drain was probably removed too quickly so im going in today to have fluid aspirated.

Pls ensure u monitor what your drains are doing. Question or Insist as to whether u can keep them in a little longer if still draining significant amounts in order to reduce later complications. We all are different but just be mindful as this is not uncommon when you've had reconstruction straight away.

Wishing u the best of luck n get well wishes. Stay positive.. You can fight this hun

Hope all went well and today starts in a positive pain free way. At least it is over in one go, I may be waiting years for reconstruction appointment and then the thought of doing it all again. Rest up, exercise and recover well

Morning Karen and loads of luck today!
