I had my first round of T on Wednesday, today I have woken with cracked heels and sore toe nails.  I have heard you can lose your nails, is this the start of that. My heels are so sore I can hardly walk. Does any of you lovely ladies have any tips to deal with this xx

I know exactly how you feel. My finger and toenails have been hurting since last November and my soles of my feet get very hard and sore. I keep my nails very short to avoid them catching and coming off. I soak my feet in warm agree with a dash of white vinegar in it and use E45 cream on them. Unfortunately the nail discomfort doesn't go but you do get used to it after a while. My big toes are sore today 😕

I still have sore feet & it's been 6months since I finished all treatment. As for you nails coming off I was told to put dark nail polish on, it did work however they never told me to leave it on after chemo for as many weeks it took to go in it takes to come out of your system & I removed the nail polish a bit early so just lost index finger nails. Good luck 😘X

I had T and was advised to wear black nail polish however I did lose my nails (toe and finger) but not until after chemo finished as the new nail grew.  My nails are still brittle.   I also suffer sore feet and am 12 months out of chemo.  Not sure if they will get better but i try keep them well moisturised and use aqeous cream. Good luck with the rest of your treatment

Hello same thing happened to me - I lost my big toe nails! Being rubbing my toe nails and feel with lavender oil - has stopped the cracking and toe nails looking less dead. Feet smell lovely as well.  After each rub wear a pair of socks to keep feet warm and soft. Hope that helps

Yes this happened to me. The answer is a non perfumed moisturizer and lots of it! Udderly Smooth was great and recommended by the oncology nurses, you can get it on Amazon.

For nails I used OPI clear nail envy strengthener and it has helped although my nails are now discoloured, my finger nails have started to split so I just keep using it. I also used the OPI nail oil, which helped.

Good luck! Xxxx

Forgot to add get some cotton foot socks for feet to wear in bed at night, slap on the moisturizer and wear the foot socks, it helps. You can get cotton gloves too, both available at Boots the chemist.

Sorry to say it goes with havin T my last one was Feb and I'm still suffering with it , my finger and toenails have started to come off . Lots of moisturising 3/4 times a day will sort ur skin and ur nails will grow bak in time. I have been left with nuropathy in my feet and on medication for it so speak to ur breast nurse or oncologist incase it's the start of it . Hope u get a reprieve soon .

my big toe nails went black and ridged and fell off. grew back eventually and 18 months later completley normal again. look after your skin and feet.ask the oncologist for advice. x

I had very bad cracked heels so tried a tip from an Asian friend which really worked. Bath your feet in luke warm water with fresh lemons in it for 15 mins, then gently exfoliate with pumice. Do this two times a week and moisturise with aqueous cream or organic moisturiser. I've also heard that painting your nails with black nail varnish can save them. At the very least it will cover up any discolouration. All the best. Hope things improve.xx
