Has anyone changed their lifestyle / diet in order to try to help their brain, prevent dementia etc?

I don't eat gluton and I don't eat red meat. I feel much better when I get daily exercise, especially pilates which helps to balance me. (my abi has left me with a weakness on my right side, but after 30 years of over compensating my left side has become very painful)

Alcohol makes me feel really tired so I try to avoid it too

I graze now. I lightened up on my sugar. I don’t eat fake foods like margarine or aspartame. I’m careful about preservatives. I very rarely drink carbonated drinks as it inhibits oxygen. I would drink a little wine if I could but it all gives me migraines. (2-4 oz).

I’m very careful about the pills I take. I want to know what the binding ingredient is or I won’t take it. I have my own home water filtration system.

So I guess I just became aware of what goes into my body and only the clean stuff gets in. I have lupus as well. I’ll eat a homemade cookie over pork that was mass produced due to fear hormones released into the meat.

It’s important to remember dementia means ‘memory loss’. Keeping your mind active and not glued to technology is your best defense.

Not sure I agree with the last bit of what you said. I am online a lot, but much of it is researching, thinking, problem solving. It keeps my memory and brain far more alive than many other things I could do offline. I also take vitamin b 12 and omega 3 and vitamin b complex and other things to help, and eat a lot of salads.
