I don't no how to help!

Hi. This is my first post and not sure if it or anyone can help? My family and I returned from holiday mid June to find my Mum lying in bed paralyzed and doubly incontinent. She had been this way for almost 48 hours, somehow managing until I got home! The local hospital could not get her admitted to the hospital with a Neurology ward so was instead sent to Orthopedics at a smaller hospital. The A&E consultant again tried to get her transferred again to the specialist hospital. This resulted in her not getting an MRI until late the next day. I could go on but basically after 5 days they couldn't decide if it was a Spinal stroke or a complication of her Rheumatoid Arthritis. So they then decided to give her aspirin and intravenous steroids to cover both basis. She was after a time released removing the catheter she had been on. Within a week she was readmitted with Urea Sepsis. It was on this discharge they confirmed that it had been a spinal stroke. My Mum is incredible and very early on regained movement but almost zero feeling other than searing constant pain. It's a painful paralysis? However, the mobility is reducing again and my Mum is very depressed. This is what I don't know how to help! We live together with Mum upstairs and us down. She's become reluctant to visitors. If I don't go up often I feel I'm not being there for her. If I pop up too often she gets irritated and now depressed tearful and giving up! Can anyone on either side of a similar situation give some advice or tips?
