Just wondering what you guys worked as before ABI, and after ABI. I’m not going back yet but at a time where I need to start considering what might work for me have lots of support from vocational occupations therapist etc, just interested to know other peoples experiences

I was and still am a hairdresser! I do get tired (still! 4 years on!) I have learned to give in before my body and mainly my mind do it for me! I avoid stress, if I feel the rising inside I will walk away, it’s a slow process returning to work and have only really recently (Probably the last year) gone back to full time! I am sure you will be fine providing you listen to / take notice of your body/mind! Good luck x

I had 2 years off sick when I had brain surgery for large aneurysm. Returned to the job I'd done for 30 years. Loved that job. Struggled though. I looked the same as before so was expected to be the same as before. I wasn't. Nearly a year after returning to the job I had a stroke while actually there. Another year off since that and I'm now 6 weeks away from the end of my employment. Dismissed for ill-health. I have no idea what I will do for income after that as the issues I have make me wonder what new job I could start... Cognitive function issues and huge fatigue that I can't control to fit in to outside of working hours. If you see what I mean. I do have concern about this because I have been turned down for PIP and ESA and I'm not eligible for UC. I have applied for medical retirement, but was rejected for that twice before, so... I shall follow this thread with interest and I wish you all the best with your future :D
