Facial Paralysis & Eyelid Issue

Hi all. I had a burst aneurysm 7 weeks ago and after finding 2 more, had those 2 aneurysms "repaired" 6 weeks ago. The coiling caused facial paralysis to the left side of my face and deafness in my left ear causing tinnitus. The worst is my left eyelid won't close. Has anyone experienced these issues and had improvement over time?

I’m numb on the right side , eye doesn’t close and constantly putting drops in to help with the dryness . I’ve had this since 2018 after two repairs. Some days it gets better then comes back worse. Just learning to walk again, again . I’m like a drunk woman and my brain feels as if it discombobulated. I just want to lie on my bed where I get some peace. I often wonder if it was all worth it . Bless you xx

Thanks so much for your reply I’m quite overwhelmed right now. It’s early days and fortunately I can walk. However, I also feel the same wonky feeling as you described. When I think this is as good as it gets I feel very emotional. I’m sorry you are still suffering.

I’ve been told I shouldn’t be here but because I was fit ( then) they decided to try but it could take a few years before I could get any normality , I’ll always need a walker but that was the least thing I worried about .

Do you have double vision too ? Xx

One more thing I have to use eye drops several times a day the facial palsy gave me an ointment to put in the night time this can be bought over counter then I wore an eye patch at night whilst I slept this helped massively with the dryness

Ask your team if they can refer you to the nearest facial palsy team I see a facial palsy physiotherapist which is pretty niche not sure how many teams are in the uk

I’m in Australia. I’m seeing the facial nerve clinic in June. However, I’ve been told it’s not something physiotherapy can fix. I am reliant on the brain reestablishing blood flow to the nerves. Having said that I do try to exercise my face/eyelid.

Ahh I’m sorry about that, I would increase your exercises they used to get and they had me doin facial massage 3 times daily doin it three times daily which increases circulation and symmetry I could en try to send you a copy of my massage guides for face if you wish there are some good videos online too which I used which I liked better unfortunately everything else is just time things will improve within time lot of rest and lots of fluid to keep hydrated too I hope this helps wishing you well in your recovery!!
