I found out today that I've qualified for what they used to call Esa but next breath told you have to qualify. For 91 days and that it can take up to 3 or 4 assessment dates before I might get additional help is this write as new to universal credit any information greatly appreciated

They don't pay it for the first twelve weeks, ridiculous but that's the rules

Thanks Jason x

It has taken me since Jan 28th 2019 to get mine awarded under universal credit it is called lcwra. It took me 5 months if arguing to get the forms off them to fill in then another 2 month for the assessment, but now got it at last. As I have mentioned about the 12weeks rule in theory you may be told you have been awarded it but have to wait weeks for your payment. I had to complain to DWP to get the form, then complain to get the assessment infact I have had to complain constantly to get anything done. It's a disgrace, having worked for 36 years never claimed a penny the system then treats me like a begger and a liar.

They sent me forms and then to Assesment they said I've been awarded it from 12 April that's when it starts and might owe me money but I don't even know how much it is a month that you get and when

in reply to Tracy331

If you have full lcwra it's an extra 336.20 per month, ring them up as they owe you money, when I did this they sorted it the same day. They pay all the back pay the same day. Then it's paid the same day as your universal credit. Number is 0800 328 5644

I totally get that pip done that to me I'm having to appeal again

in reply to Tracy331

Pip is treated as totally separate issue, I have also been through that rigmarole as well. I think after having a brain injury they want us to just drop it and say "I can't do this" . As I've said it's a disgrace. It's taken me nearly 9 month of fighting to get what I should have got from day one, it's been the toughest fight of my life on top of having my brain heamorrage.

I am on the point of giving up on pip to be honest then I get good advice mainly on this site dial say I'm on there no list so no matter what I do I'll always be turned down so told me my only option is tribunal so now waiting court date

in reply to Tracy331

73 percent of people who go to court win their appeal, it's not like a crown court, nothing to worry about, they will have to admit that the assessors are not medically trained enough to assess anybody.
