Aneurysm

Hi everyone i was also wondering...if i already have a small aneurysm and they are monitoring it i.e mri scans. When they take a look at my recent mri scan to check the aneurysm, do they only look at the aneurysm or will they still check the rest of my brain to see if i have any other changes. I mean will they have a scan of my full arteries in my brain and will notice if i have one elsewhere in my brain or do they just have an image of my present aneurysm and only look at that!!??... cos im worrying another could have formed since my first one but they would have noticed this on continuous scans iv been havin. Hope this makes sense lol

They will do your entire brain. The chances of having another one are low. Chill

Usually do whole brain but some centres might only do the “circle of Willis”. I would ask them specifically if the scan has been a ‘single slab’ or “multiple slabs” to cover whole brain. The radiographer who does the scan is the best person to ask. Lots of variation in MRA technique from centre to centre.

Aneurysms are most common in the circle of Willis hence the strategy of just scanning that slab, but there is a tiny chance of missing aneurysms of the pericallosal artery or the posterior inferior cerebellar arteries.

I have regular mri scans.. think they do look at all the arteries..mines not on the circle of willis so my hosp must cover all or anothet portion im pretty sure they check all ur arteries are there a chance of developin another if u already have one. Well iv only one as far as im aware they did diagnose me so they will have picked up on a further aneurysm if there was one present as they would have seen it not common sense just to look at willis lol not at all cos u can get em anywhere in ya brain pretty sure multible slabs as i was in the machine a while and loads of diff noises..

Them other 2 arteries u mentioned are part of the circle of willis so im sure they would see them even if small as i deem mine 2.3mm small and they still found that...mine i think is middle cerebral artery on my right but not actually in the middle and not too deep so i think its on a branch that is attached to the middle artery. Its scary but u no wot im livin my life lol and its only 2.3mm chance of rupture less than 1% am a fighter anyway id ring amb if eva got bad headache lol...it hasnt grown either so best just to forget about it.

A MRI or a scan reveals all aneurysms treated or untreated.
