I have a coiled brain aneurysm ... was one of the lucky ones it’s never burst! My question for all you lovely people is. Holiday insurance.... do we need to tell them if it’s been fixed? If we do. Does the cost of holiday insurance go up? Thank you.

Hi... I've not had my aneurysm treated however I have always told the ins companies...they usually ask if you have had surgeries so your best being Honest. My holiday insurance didn't shoot up at all. Hope this helps 👍

Thank you for replying. Maybe with them asking about operations ... that might make it go up. 🙈

I am no expert but I would have thought someone with an unruptured anuerysm would flag up as more risky than someone who has had it treated. May depend on time and whether there was complications. Best checking with the ins company really

My anrysm didn’t bleed. It was found after a car crash then months later coiled. I’m just going to ring about. But thought maybe people on here had some insight to which insurance companies didn’t put silly prices on to us who unfortunately have anrysm. But thanks once again

Go on the comparison sites...i did a 12 month European zone policy last year for around £40 with aneurysm disclosed. Comparethemarket, go compare etc

Hi Peppy. I would have thought that, medically speaking, you DON'T have an aneurysm. So there is nothing to report. How long ago was your surgery? Have you been scanned since? If your annie clotted around the coils as it should do, then you no longer have an aneurysm, just an extra thick artery wall in that location. You are no more at risk than Joe Bloggs and you no longer have a medical condition to disclose!

Oh really nobody has explained it like this. I had the coiling done February 12th of this year. I had cat scan a month later as I was in a lot of pain so they checked for bleed. No bleed was found. They never said if it had clotted r not. Thanks for replying

Weirdly it made no difference on my holiday insurance that I took out last week, I've got an unruptured aneurysm that's been coiled, the insurance company seemed to see it as safely dealt with. However, my kidney stone op 2 years ago cost an extra £23 for a 11 night stay in USA.

Thank you for replying that’s good there was no further charges. How did you explain to them about your aneurysm. Did you just say in was an unruptured anrysm

Yes, pretty much. Once you tell them you have one they just ask associated questions. Eg. Has it been success treated with a medical procedure. Has it ruptured. Did it cause a bleed on the brain..

Stuff like that.

I used explorer travel insurance.

Mine hasn't ruptured but worldwide annual insurance will cost me 129 pounds.

I'm with nationwide building society and have one of their accounts where I pay extra each month for certain insurances

Hi. Bad heads were really bAd. Said it was some kind of neuralgia I’m now on amatripline for pain. It’s working. As for memory it’s okish. But I do forget things still like what time I took my medicine and what time I’d had good things like that. I also think it’s down to anxiety... I have that bad since I had crash and they found anrysm. Maybe that’s u too I don’t no. I also feel depressed for the first time. Did your aneurysm burst. If so. Maybe that’s why. Mine did not. Hope this helps. X
