Birth options??

I've just found out i am pregnant with my third child. My first was only an 11 hour labour from start to finish and I tore badly, my second was only a 5 hour labour start to finish and I tore again as well as having baby's heart rate plumett with every contractions. I'm now terrified of tearing again or having the same as what happened with my second happen again. As well as that we dont drive and if baby 3 decides to be even quicker than baby 2 I really worried i wont make it to hospital in time.

I also have terrible sickness through the entire second pregnancy that resulted in 3 over night hospital stays and permanant antisickness meds as well as terrible SPD.

Does anyone know if I can request a C-section or at least a planned induction to try help reduce some of my fears?

You are well within your rights to request a, c section. They'll talk to you may refer you to someone to talk about the risks but it's ultimately your choice. Your reasons sound totally understandable. If I was to go through pregnancy to term again I'd be requesting one because the torture of an emergency one has lasted with me it was scary I'd rather go with what I know that to risk going through emergency situation again.

Thank you for replying. I've been sat here wondering if my reasons for wanting at the least a planned early induction or a planned section are unreasonable or not. My mother was a midwife a few years ago well i mean like 7 but she says they might at least agree to an planned early induction. I just feel like at the very least I need to know im going to be able to be there on time and not have to give birth on the way or at home in case something goes badly again. I know both induction and sections come with risks and sections are increased recovery time but I just dont think ill survive through pregnancy without some assurances especially as ive struggled with depression on and off since i was a teen, been off meds since i was pregnant with second and not needed them back yet but i think the stress and worry will make me start to slip again. I panicked during my last labour so much that the midwife had to shout at me to snap me to my senses so I didnt tear even worse than i had as that would have probably led to surgery to stitch back up.

I like you have suffered with depression on and off since a teen my mum went through spontaneously fast births she had me in 8 minutes my sister in a car on the way to hospital and managed to get to hospital with my brother nothing near an hour though. But my labour with my daughter went on for days I was admitted with high Blood pressure and was told I wasn't going anywhere till I had her I was in for 5 days absolutely knackered contractions coming and going then on the night before they were going to induce me my waters broke. I had group b strep so they had to get me going just as I got to 6 cm they said I needed to have epidural as my bp was too high and meds weren't helping 15 mins after epidural 8 Dr's come rushing in and said my daughters heart rate wasn't good had me up in stirrups taking blood from her head every 10 mins after the 3rd lot they said we need to get her out. That's when I had c section I was uncontrollably shaking all the way through it. Never again if I get blessed I will surely be asking for a c section. Anxiety levels were off the chart I was extremely tired recovery was awful but I believe not sleeping for a week had something to do with it then 8 weeks no sleep with my daughter.

Your most definitely within your rights mention it to tour midwife tell her why and the sooner they get this info down in paper it will relax you more. I can totally understand why. You would want this I'm not all for the convenience c sections but the anxiety and worry from previous births and worry over giving birth although I do think the epidural is a better option if that's someones worry my sister was advised for epidural due to the way she carried in over cannula.

The sooner you get this mentioned the better it will be for you hopefully your depression won't resurface where you need meds one this is taken care off.

Thank you I will mention it, i have plenty of time as weve only just found out this weekend and im only about 6 weeks but this was one of the first things that jumped into me head and id rather know now if i stood a chance if i asked so i could ask when booking in

Definitely make inquiries about c-section!

2 friends if mine - both just had their 3rd babies (smaller than the second babies) and they both did not tear- so hope is there!x

Its not just the tearing that is making me worried. and my first was 6lb 7 then my second was 7lb 13. but i dropped labouring time by more than half on my second compared to my first.

It's very normal to drop time. Must my friend had first baby just below 24h and driving within 3h...

Hi ladies just wanted to update. Booked in now have my first scan on 9th of April. Haven't brought this up properly yet as it wasn't the normal midwife who did my booking in as she was on holiday will be seeing normal midwife at beginning of may. Would love to hear if anyone has been in a similar position and how they brought this up with midwife
