Hi there

You are probably best to do a pregnancy test as you have missed your period, because it’s not normal to not get a second period after a coil removal. Was it a hormonal (IUS) or a copper one?

Best wishes

Hi Katherine, thanks for the reply. Sorry I don't think I made my question very clear. I've still got the coil in (Copper one) but I got my first period after having it put in but not my 2nd period. I just can't stop eating since I had it put in so I might have it removed as I don't want to put on weight. Plus I keep getting really bad headaches. Is it normal to miss the 2nd period?

Hi there

A copper coil has no hormones on it, so it will not affect your normal period cycle. As it has no hormones it should not cause headaches or cause increased appetite. You should be checking your threads every month (they can be felt with a finger touching the neck of the womb) to ensure it’s still in the right place. A nurse or Dr can check this at your local contraceptive clinic.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Katherine

Ok thank you Katherine. Would it be because of the termination I wouldn't have had a period? I got the first one right on time but still not had 2nd and was due to have one around the 15th of the month.
