Pregnancy worry??

My boyfriend and I had sex twice about a week before my period was due. He didn't ejaculate in me either time but I'm aware of the risks of pre-ejaculation. I took a pill a couple of hours later, but hadn't taken it regularly either before or after having sex. I did have usual period pains I tend to experience such a cramps about three or four days after having sex, but over the past couple of days they've stopped. I'm not sure if I should wait to see if my period comes, or start taking my pill regularly straight away?

Hi there

Because you weren't taking your pill regularly before you had unprotected sex I would advise waiting for your period to come and if it is late take a pregnancy test and if it comes on time then you can start taking your new pill pack in line with your period.

It might be a good idea to visit your local contraceptive and sexual health clinic to look into finding a form of contraception that is better suited to you. And if you find your period is late you can take a pregnancy test with them.

You can search for your local clinic here: fpa.org.uk/find-a-clinic.

I hope this helps

Best wishes

Katherine
