TTC after miscarriage

Hi I'm looking for a bit of advice! I had a miscarriage at 7weeks on 29th September 2014...it was a complete miscarriage with no complications. I expected my body to take a while to get back on track, however I had some spotting last Tuesday (only when I wiped) nothing since...I've noticed twinges and small cramping (not painful) over the last couple of days...but no sign of AF. I'm just a bit confused...I don't know if that spotting I had could of been implantation?! I'm trying to not read too much into it, I tested today to see if I was pregnant but it was negative! Is it normal to have spotting etc this soon after a miscarriage or is it possible that maybe I'm pregnant again?! I also have a lot of watery cm over last few days...almost feels like AF is here but nothing when I go to the loo...sorry for too much info, but as you can guess I'm driving myself crazy with trying to figure out what's going on! Any advice would be great?! L x

Hi Linzi,

I’m sorry to hear about your miscarriage, and please don’t worry at all about providing too much info.

Many women will spot after a miscarriage, so yes it could be linked to that, or it could be a sign of pregnancy or your period. I’m sorry I can’t give you a more definitive answer. Usually, your period would return between 4 and 6 weeks after experiencing a miscarriage, although this can vary. As it has been just over 4 weeks since your miscarriage, you might want to wait a few more days to see if your period arrives and then take another test. If your period has not arrived after another week and you are still testing negative you should go and speak to your GP just to check there isn’t anything else which might be affecting your cycle.

I hope this helps. I completely understand it must be a very anxious time for you. The Miscarriage Association has lots of information about trying to conceive after a miscarriage which might be useful: miscarriageassociation.org....

Best wishes,

Katherine

Thanks Katherine, it's very confusing as you can imagine! Still no period today and still negative pregnancy test! Feel like I have the cold coming on too so I don't think that's helping matters! It's just difficult as my husband and I were just about to start infertility treatment when we found out I was pregnant...so trying to figure out my cycle again is just trying to say the least!! Thanks x

Yes, everyone's body is different and will recover in different ways, at different lengths of time after a miscarriage, so it can be a very confusing indeed. Hopefully over the next week or so you will get a clearer picture. I really hope that it works out for you and your husband.

All the very best,

Katherine
