Has anyone been taking calcium in the form of hydroxyapatite? What are your thoughts?

Pw2879 , Please switch to organic plant based calcium for better absorption.

"Organic" and "Plant based" are not helpful qualifiers for finding better absorbing calcium supplements. In fact, most supplements that use such qualifiers supply calcium carbonate, which is pretty terrible for absorption.

uncountable3 ,I buy a plant based calcium supplement which contains the below ingredients.

Sprulina, Okra, Watercress, Alfalfa, Lichen, Pumpkin, Mustard Greens, Asparagus, Spinach leaves, Thyme, Beetroot, Parsley, Celery leaves, Fenugreek seeds, Tulsi leaves, Cumin seeds, coriander seeds.

I'm based out of India. I buy a brand called "Nature Life Nutrition" online.

Yes, that is the type of calcium that I use. It was recommended to me by a trusted chiropractor. Even my doctor told me that plant based calcium is not very helpful for absorption. Obviously, it's fine to eat dark, leafy greens, but the calcium is not absorbed by the body as well as other forms of calcium. I, also, like to drink bone broth as it contains so many minerals that our body needs.

I took plant calcium all last year and my dexa scans got worse 😡. I have been reading quite a bit about how hydroxyapatite is far more absorbed than any other form

Did you take Magnesium, Boron, Vitamin D3 and Vitamin K2 along with calcium?

Yes. The plant calcium complex had all of that plus I took additional d3, k2 and magnesium everyday. I go to the gym everyday and do free weights and treadmill alternately...however, I did get lackadaisical at doing my free weights during this past year. I had covid last January and after that didn’t eat as well as I should.

Well, I’ve been taking plant calcium for over a year ... I agree that you have to eat well and exercise but I was taking 1100 mg daily of plant calcium

I take Swanson brand. It's called Microcrystalline Hydroxyapatite Calcium. My husband and I buy all our supplements from Swanson Health Products online as they frequently have sales.
