Side effects 9 days later include exacerbation of osteo-arthritis pains and enormous fatigue. Any coping advice?

Oh dear, what a pain (literally)! All I can suggest is painkillers and take it easy for a few days until it eases off.

thanks for replying - just wondering how long these reactions might last but its difficult to get a definitive answer obviously as we're all different!

Sorry, I don't know. As you say, everyone's different, but hopefully the effects will wear off in the next few days.

I had bad side effects after my infusion including hallucinations, incontinence, vomiting severe bone pain and headaches, blurred vision, spasms and then going floppy. This went on for about four days but the fatigue went on longer. A routine blood test by a community nurse two days after found all my levels out of range and calcium was almost non existant. (I thought these infusions was to add calcium not remove it) A week later my gp phoned saying an ambulance was on it's way as it was so low. I didn't know at the time but I could have a heart attack!

Fortunately with ECGs, monitors, blood tests etc in the acute medical unit it was found the rate was increasing slowly, talk about frightening.

This was my first infusion and I don't know if it will be my last although I have time now to reflect on it and see what the specialist says. My next DEXA is in April so it will be in May before any decision is made.

I don't know if my husband could stand it either!

I only know I will not be having denosumab because of rebound fratures and the oral biphophanates will affect my stomach.

I am currently in discussion with my gp about D3K2 soft gel tablets to avoid the reflux and gastric side effects I am getting from Adcal (calcium/vit d tablets). She sent a link from ROS about a calcium rich diet which fortunately although I have been on for some years the addition of these new tablets as well may keep me safe.

I am on warfarin and know K2 can affect the INR range but the warfarin clinic is happy for me to try it. The gp is uncertain but it is no good trying to ask the rheumatology/osteoporosis clinic, the next appointment is not until November.

These things get very complicated don't they?

You will get better, it just takes longer for the fatigue to go. Just think, at least it will be another year before you decide!

thank you for sharing your situation - it sounds most challenging, but I do hope you will find the right combination of meds,
