Taking calcium and K2 together or not?

I'm wondering whether anyone knows whether to take calcium and k2 together or separate. I know that calcium can interfer with the absorption of some supplements/meds.But I also know that k2 is needed to ensure calcium goes where it's needed. What do others do? I can't find any research to clarify this.Cheers.x

Have you had blood tests that reveal you are deficient in calcium? I personally do not take calcium supplements but rely on diet. (my blood results show I have good calcium levels) What I do take for my osteoporosis is magnesium 600mg, vitamin d3 3000 iu, K2 600mcg, zinc 15mg, boron 3mg and vitamin c 550mg. Vitamin d3 increases your uptake of calcium from food but without the magnesium and K2 you can end up with the calcium in your arteries and soft tissues instead of your bones. See the fb group Vitamin D3 and it's co-factors uk.

I've been taking D3 and K2 at the same time for a long time. Since diagnosis of PMR in Dec 2019 I've been prescribed the Adcal-D3 Chewable Calcium tablets. I take the K2 when I've finished chewing the Adcal-D3. The only tablets I still haven't taken is the Alendronic Acid to help prevent Osteoporosis. Don't like the potential side affects from this drug. Also take one 20 mg Omeprazole daily to help prevent stomach upset from taking the steroids. I bought Boron and iMove to help with arthritis, however, I've not started these tablets as yet as wondering if they would have an interaction with the Prednisone. I do take Zinc and Magnesium.

Chreers for your response

I take all 3 together too(cal k2 D) but wonered whether this was helpful.

Are you aware that omeprazole can cause loss of bone density? Take care.x

Pain isn't it. All drugs help one thing and mess up another. Don't you take omeprazole? I'm getting a bone density scan in March, whatever that shows is whether I will start the Alendronic Acid. One lady on the forum has problems with her oesophagus from taking it.

You take care too

You did not answer the question. The question was should calcium and k2 be taken at the same time - as opposed to an hour later etc.

Did not see your question, but I do not take any extra calcium apart from what I get in my diet.

I believe no one answer the question we all gave what we do or think. Ask the others if it bothers you that much. We are on here to help not be interrogated.

I've only just seen this question. It might depend whether you're taking K2-MK7 or K2-MK4. If you're taking K2-MK7 it isn't likely to matter whether or not you take them together, as K2-MK7 stays in your blood a long time. If you're taking MK4, that should be taken in 3 doses, spread throughout the day, as it doesn't stay in your blood for long, so probably best to take your calcium supplement within an hour or two of taking the K2-MK4, but I don't think you need to take them at exactly the same time. However, you also have to think about when you're getting the rest of your calcium from diet. And finally, for most of us it's considered better to get your calcium from diet rather than supplements if at all possible, unless you have a health reason (eg absorbency issues) for needing to supplement.
