Rib pain

So I am a severe asthmatic, on a maintenance dose of 12.5mg prednisolone. Last DEXA scan was normal (due another DEXA soon).

I went to work yesterday feeling fine, but gradually started noticing pain in the right side of my chest. Definitely not a pleuritic pain, more muscular/bone related. I have narrowed it down to about my 4th rib, which is very tender to press. The pain (oddly) is from where it joins the sternum, all the way under my armpit, to my back.

I’ve never had this before! I don’t understand why the pain is all the way around! I know that even if it is broken, nothing can be done other than analgesia.

Ideas?

I think you need an apt with the doctor to get checked out. Pain is telling you something is wrong and pain can be referred from other bodily locations so impossible to identify without examination, see the doc.

I'm not a doctor, but it sounds like Costochondritis. Inflammation between the ribs. But please check it out with your GP.
