DXA scan and previous hip replacement

Hi, I'm having my DXA scan tomorrow and the email I received said I can't have the scan if I've had a Radio-opaque implant as in a hip replacement. I had a hip replacement 2 years ago but have no idea what the Radio-opaque means. Anyone know? I only received the booking call today. Thanks for any help.

It means it's opaque to the x-ray which measures bone density. (Of course, because you wouldn't need density of a replacement joint checked anyway.) I'd like to know more about this because I don't understand why your vertebrae and your other hip can't be scanned. Is there's some sort of medical reason?

Well hopefully they can scan the other hip and vertebrae. I'll know tomorrow. thanks for letting me know what radio-opaque means.
