There is a lot of information available on the internet.

I did accept AdCal and alendronic acid from GP but had horrible side effects from both (increasingly severe depression from the alendronic acid, which is suposedly a rare side efffect though I suspect most people just stop taking it and don't report depression as it is such a creeping condition and hard to judge clearly).

I am now using careful exercise, including a weighted vest, vit d supplements, being cheerful (very good for your bones) and managing my posture well to reduce the risk of fracture.

I appreciate it is difficult to make decisions on this complicated area. I like the advice given by Dr Susan Brown on betterbones.com

Dayna2Sparkle, don't take Prolia. It is advertised that it builds bone, the doctor's office, three years ago, said it builds bones. It helped one side and not the other. Now, at three years, I was told by doctor's office I have to stop it as they have found after three years I will start to get the side effects. Have learned when you stop, you lose whatever bone you had gained AND along with that there is another study showing you can lose significant more bone up to 33%. I am so upset that I used this product as I probably would have been better off had I never used it and sounds as if I will be worse off.

It is recommended you start taking another that doesn't do the same thing as Prolia and I won't know what is recommended until June when I go back to Endocrinology doctor. Wish they had done longer studies on this rather than being a lab rat.
