Hi can anyone tell me how long you waited for bone density scan please? X

I finished my radiotherapy in January 2014, had bone scan April 2014, hope that helps

Similar to me. I refused radiotherapy because of my lung disease, but my Oncologist arranged one after my chemo, because I was given an aromotase Inhibitor. I'm still on it 5 years after.

Hello, if you are in England, I have no idea. In the US Florida, it's just a matter of getting an order faxed to the facility with the proper equipment and taking the date and time available.....a few days, a week or so at the most.

Do you mean how long did other forum members wait to get a scan initially or after taking some kind of treatment for OP?

I started on OP medication after a dexa and had a further dexa three years later.

Hi, mine took 3 weeks, there is generally a report done so can take time

Thank you so much just want a diagnosis so we know what we are dealing with can't go on much longer with the pain it's been so long and so fed up with myself I am normally very active now I only go out for appointments 50 going on 90. X

Hi there. I first had a scan because of my arthritis, and was told I would have them every 3 years, but I have had to prompt them for that to happen. When they arrange it, the appointment is about 3 weeks later. But I also believe that many areas you can have a private scan in a mobile 'van' for a very reasonable fee.

which says: Waiting times for a bone scan vary. After their GP requested a DXA scan some people received an appointment within a couple of weeks while others waited for 3-4 months. Moreover, people’s perception of ‘a long wait’ also differed. For Gloria a 3 months wait ‘wasn’t very long’ while Susan experienced 3 months as ‘waiting for ages’.

Postcode lottery I would think as to how long it takes to get an appointment.
