Bone pain.

Hi, my name is Carol. I've got hypothyroidism, hiatus hernia, breast cancer and terrible aching bones, joints and muscles. Not sure if my medications (thyroxine, letrazole) are causing the aching. Been on thyroxine for many years and was diagnosed with breast cancer one year ago. I had a dexa scan at that point and was prescribed calcium D3, fultium and alendronic acid (which I stopped after a month when I read up on it). Any advice would be welcome.

I would check out the NOS resources page concerning the drugs, the causes, the need to be tested for vitamin D deficiency etc.

The NOS website is undergoing changes at the moment but you can still access their helpline for further advice.

Bisphosphonates are not the only bone medication available. Perhaps ask your doctor for a referral to a rheumatologist but for sure make yourself aware of the medicines that are available for treating osteoporosis.
