Hi I've been on 25mg Losartan for past 12 months.
My BP appeared to be controlled at around 136/90
Since December my BP readings have increased and are regularly over 150/95 and this week around 160/100.
I'm going to see my GP next week to discuss my readings.
Has anyone else experienced similar?

indeed, pressured, I believe that most people need a combination of drugs eventually. The go should start if possible with lifestyle/diet advice and if this doesn’t work then medication and if this is insufficient then add another pill which works in a different way.
Hi! How do you feel with 160/100 ? I measure it often, but I feel perfectly well with it. I am more happy with 150/100, but 160/100 also makes no problems. Can it be, that the old formula 100+age was still OK...? I am male, 70, and it would be tolerable that systolic pressure amounts to 170, according to the "old" rules. It always irritates me, that somebody has prescribed, that BP should be 120/80 or 135/85, who knows with what "scientific background", lol ...
To be honest I feel fine. In the summer I was regularly below 130/90 and sometimes felt dizzy.
I am quite active and noticed after exercise ie cycling or swimming my BP would drop significantly. However recently I'm not seeing that drop? I'll see what the GP thinks.
Thanks for the reply! In the summer, I work a lot in the garden and about the house, and my BP also goes down (this activities relax me a lot), so I measure 135/85 or similar. In the winter, I sit a lot at the computer, highly concentrated on all the unnecessary information there, so, in the evening, my BP goes as high as 170/110. Not worried, since I know that it is not because of too much salt or too little wine, but because of prolonged overconcentration. Psychical component, in the BP regulation, is very important, I know that from before. Until now, I refused all the medication. I am NOT AGAINST high BP, I am against taking unnecessary drugs!
Funny I sit at a desk most of the day, and my exercise has reduced the past few months. Something to bear in mind, Thanks.
Sorry if I am annoying you, but I wonder what's going to be out of the children who stare at the cell phone or at the comp screen all day long... I often thought about Thai Chi (spelling ?) as a relaxation technique. Performing unusual, slow motions with the large body parts, requiring high electrification of not often used brain regions, makes it possible to relax often or permanently used parts of it. Even walking the street, looking at the shop-windows or simply avoiding collision with other people, with the transfer of the attention from one subject to the other, also brings refreshment to the brain. I live in a village and spend 1 day a week in the town, doing small jobs. I really have noticed that such walks, through the crowd, and in unusual surroundings, refresh me and relax me. All the best! BP often rises in the winter because of the cold weather and drops again in the Summer.
Has anything obvious changed that is raising your Blood Pressure. They will obviously want to know your rested BP, whether your diet has changed ( which it may have during xmas ), your activity and any stress you may have too.
It well worth get a check up at GP. I know peronsally I couldn't tolerate Losartan and it made me ill feeling dizzy so they played with dosage but in the end it couldnt be balanced so they chnaged me to Canderstan.
I previously had been on Ramipril before losartan which worked well other than the cough which during Covid was cause me concerns. Try not to worry
Hi. I was on Losartan 25 mgs for around 5 years and it seemed to control my BP very well (although with side effects) Last year my BP started going up so my GP increased the dose to 50mgs. No difference - so up to 100 mgs. My BP rose! He has now added a second drug Bendroflumethiazide (a water tablet) My BP has dropped a bit but the side effects have become unbearable! The Losartan gives my severe joint and back pain, fatigue and dizziness and now the new drug makes me feel sick with bloating and stomach pain! I am gradually reducing the Losartan back to 25 mgs (without telling GP) and may stop the water tablet if things don’t settle down. I’d rather have high BP than feel so ill!
Perhaps you could try a different BP drug? I wouldn’t advise going for a higher dose of Losartan based on my own experience! (Although everyone reacts differently of course)
Hi, I started on low dose BP meds and now on Losartan 50mgs hydrochlorazide. My BP was Ok for awhile then the Dr added 25mgs losartan. My BP is not under control and all the Drs want to do is add more. My diet is good, I do exercise but nothing seems to work for long. So yes, I would say that it hasn't worked particularly well for me. I am going to make an appointment to change the medications, not just add to it. It will be never ending otherwise.
GP has increased my dose of Losartan to 50mg. Also suggested some food supplements like fish oil. I'll see how it goes. I don't like being on medication and will continue to look for alternative treatments.
Update: BP now back to around average 135/85, I've started using the sauna after GP suggested it may help reduce BP. I will continue on current meds 50mg Losartan and statin with a view to reducing in the coming months.
