This is my first post on this group so hello to everyone

Wondering if anyone has had issues with Ramipril/Teva brand and Bendroflumethiazide/Accord brand high blood pressure meds? Especially ear issues or fatigue and anxiety

Stay safe everyone!

Hi and welcome to the forum. I don't actually take either of the meds you mention but do take other blood pressure medications and do think there is a difference between generic brands. There was quite a long post fairly recently on this very subject and the consensus of opinion was that, for most people, some generics can give unwanted side effects.

My surgery now specify which generic brand is dispensed by the pharmacy - at my request. It's not failsafe of course because the pharmacy may be unable to source that particular brand every time for one reason or another.

I hope this helps. Perhaps you will have a response from someone who does take the meds you mention.

Dovedale24 I appreciate you replying thank you!I am not sure if there is a difference.Still trying to work that out myself.I changed my levothyroxine brand away from Teva & Accord to then realise I was given these brands with blood pressure medication. Was also on Amlodipine before also although I don’t know what brand. My blood pressure has been under control then quite high again with no explanation. So I’m starting to think if it could possibly be the brands m.Do you remember the post title?

I understand what you are saying. I actually take the Teva brand myself and have always been good with it. I suppose the question you need to ask yourself is whether you feel any different taking these generic brands compared to the ones you were taking before - or have you only just started on them?

I have taken different generic brands in the past and did experience unwanted side effects but am fine now that I take the same ones each month.

I will have a look for the name and date of the post and respond shortly when I have found it.

Hi, I found the post - it was 'Generic Med Reactions' and posted at the beginning of March 2021. If you type that into the search box it should find it quickly for you.

Thank you that’s great! Was given Ramipril along with Amlodipine back in March/April 2018 which brands I don’t recall though.Just noticed these brands recently as I felt the levothyroxine they do maybe didn’t agree with me.Got a new prescription today from the doctor and will get different brands tomorrow. So time will tell. The more I look in to things the more I think maybe the doctors aren’t always right with all due respect to them!

Glad to have been of help. I have a friend who takes BP medication and she is given a different generic brand almost every month and has no issues whatsoever.

Some people are more sensitive to meds and the different fillers used and do have unwanted side effects. If you can find a generic brand that suits you then it would be wise to stick with it so that you get that continuity. Good luck!

Thank you again Dovedale4 you’ve been really helpful! Just reading the ingredients list here on the Ramipril so might make a connectionStay safe and take care!

Hi, I've used Accord, now on Ramipril. I did have those issues while on Accord but it turned out to be undiagnosed B12 deficiency. I've had many different BP meds over the years (was put on them in my 20's) and I have to say, no side effects with Ramipril at all. I'm even able to run 5-10km a day now. Push for what's right for you. My son-in-law is a pharmacist and advised Ramipril as the best..Good luck ❤️
