Ramipril and propranolol

This is a journey I wish I wasn't on.

Anyway.. I began with panic attacks two months' ago. It was revealed at the time that I have high blood pressure.

Tried Lercanidipine and experienced horrible side effects. After visits to A&E for panic attacks I'm starting with Ramipril and Propranolol.

Does anyone have experience of taking either of these medications?

I would be grateful for any reviews or advice. Thank you

This is a difficult situation to manage, anxiety can drive high B/P and being diagnosed with B/P can result in a degree of anxiety. I presume the beta blocker is to manage the anxiety, do u feel calmer , if so it is effective. U haven’t said what your dose of Ramipril is ,I over many years have been prescribed Ramipril and it has been titrated up to the maximum dose , except for a feeling of tiredness in the afternoon I haven’t had any other side effects. I also take diltiazem , prescribed 2 years ago and my B/P is very well controlled. Size effects can take up to a month to remove and your body to adjust. The key here is to maintain a controlled B/P.

Thank you.

I've just collected my prescription and it's 40 mg up to three times a day.

It's just a bit depressing thinking about all the limitations afterwards ie. Avoiding certain foods etc...

I'm glad your blood pressure is stable.

I take 2.5mg ramipril daily along with 10mg of propanolol twice a day plus 5mg amlodipine.I was on double the dose of ramipril and amlodipine when first diagnosed with high bp but it has been coming down. The propanolol is for palpitations. Not going to lie it was horrible at first as I was put on a lot of medication at once to deal with bp at 244/133!! But actually my bp is pretty low now and I may have to cut my dose even more.I had all sorts of side effects to start with along with the palpitations and felt awful but my body has adapted so mostly OK now.

Yes I have been on lercandipine for two years now, I agree there are some disagreeable side effects, I had been on a beta blocker before that but dude effects were much worse, my dosage has been increased recently so I’m struggling with that now, I don’t know of any with no side effects, hope you can resolve this problem.
