im worried because someone says that if i start taking hb meds then stop it may affect my blood circulation. is it true? is there any basis?

because 10 months ago, i had high bp readings.my 1st doctor prescribe me HB meds and i took it for 15days. but my 2nd doctor told me that i just have a white coat hypertension.my bp goes high when i see bp machine.all my medical tests came back normal as well, so he doesnt want to prescribe me medicine for highblood due to my medical results are all normal and im just 24 years old then i stop taking the meds.

is it necessary to take meds even i dont have hypertension due to i already started taking it?

The thing i would worry about if i were to stop my blood pressure meds is because they are controlling my blood pressure that if i just stopped them dead like that then i could make my blood pressure shoot up very quickly. Have you tried doing more exercise and changing your diet while your taking the meds as I'm hearing of others who are doing this and they are able to stop their meds when their blood pressure goes down slowly. Try this as someone did this and was able to stop thier blood pressure medication and im also trying to do this but im not stopping my blood pressure medication until i know its gone down as i do home montoring and i would also be speaking to my GP before i stopped to.

i think that you should call your doctor and ask as one is giving you blood pressure medication and the other says you dont need it and you have only been on it 15 days you must find out as you dont want to be taking it if you dont need it. you would probably be fine to stop if your doctor has said so. just call them and make sure they wont mind as they wont want you taking blood pressure medication if you dont need it as it could get your blood pressure far to low.

I suggest that your doctor is a better bet than hearsay. If you can stay away from the drugs for as long as possible then that's good . The side effects of BP medications can be upsetting to the system in about 30% of cases. Keep the body fat down...low carbs cut out sugar, reduce alcohol and up the exercise. Many conditions can be sorted without drugs ...even type 2 diabetes. Also look up "that sugar film" available on Youtube, Amazon etc.

Best wishes

i was of the view that once you are started on bp meds you are on them for life the doctor may reduce the dosage a bit but if you go off them at your own accord you can make the condition much worse in fact it can lead to an enlarged heart i am told by my gp take care

It is because you have hypertension.that's why he told you that.

If you can avoid taking medications, then do. The side effects are often damaging. If your 2nd GPs says it is white coat syndrome, then it should be Ok. Usually, they suggest you buy a monitor and test yourself at home when you are more relaxed which gives you a more reliable reading. I have come off BP meds after the dreaded drug Amlodopine started to slowly cripple me, leaving me with what seems like permanent tendonitis in my right thigh and a bursa in my shoulder. Go for the healthy lifestyle, drink half a lemon in hot water every morning first thing; eat protein, nuts, plenty of veg and fruit, cut down the carbs and alcohol; and exercise more. Hope this helps.
