I would recommend getting involved with clinical research. The doctors and staff at Barts are great. I was part of the ASCOT study many years ago and had great treatment that vastly improved my BP. I have also been part of a cardiac study that reassured me about my own cardiovascular health. They also have a Public and Patients Advisory Group that advises on the research done at Bart’s.

Thank you,I am waiting to hear from the medical person who is conducting the study,I have emailed him my details ,Your post is reassuring.

I took part in the study went for 3 appointments then got a phone call telling me that my BP was too high and that I didn't meet their criteria. Not sure I would bother again the travelling was horrendous . I didn't think my readings were that high either. So I am now questioning whether they pick people to suit their studies ,which in my view is a bit of a con.
