Any advice!?

I had my eyes tested 2 weeks ago becuase I was suffering from headaches, blurred vision and I struggled to see long and short distants.

He tested me and He said my eyes have slightly changed but not to much where I near new glasses and he suggested I go for a blood test because diabetes runs in the family.

I had my blood test this morning in the grey and one in a pale orange/yellow tubes.

The doctor checked the results and has request I have a fasting blood test which means I can’t eat or drink anything the night before.

Could I have diabetes or could something else be wrong??

Did the optometrist do a complete check of your eyes, including using machinery to check the back of your eyes? Have you got any other symptoms apart from the headache and blurred vision, particularly any eye pain or jaw discomfort when chewing?

Yes he did a full check of my eyes and also checked for glaucoma, I’ve also in the past had my eye twitching/ spasm but that was 4 weeks ago and hasn’t happened since. Sometimes I urinaty more than I should be but that’s only when I’m on my period, feeling nausea, hot flashes and feeling like I’m getting a cold for a couple of months now. He said because of my symptoms and diabetes in the family he said I should get checked.

There is a condition called Temporal Arteritis, the symptoms of which can include blurred vision, head pain and nausea. Ask your GP to arrange ESR and CRP blood tests for any sign of inflammation just to rule out this condition. It is a condition that left untreated can lead to irrecoverable loss of vision. With a family history, diabetes may be more likely but best to get checked out.

I had a blood test to test the glucose level (grey tube) and there was some blood put in a pale orange/yellow tube but have no idea what was testing. Doctor rang last night requesting a fasting blood test later this week.

Hope the results turn out to be normal - good luck!

When I've had fasting blood tests, they check your cholesterol levels. But I didn't notice which colour tube they used.

Doctors rang again for me to make an appointment to see my doctor on Friday about my blood test results. I’m also having a fasting blood test tomorrow.
