Follow up re my Day Op hospital visit.

It was so funny when I was booked in for my minor op (just a few injections into my arthritic feet) when the nurse measured my BP. Even though I'd warned her of my 'white coat' syndrome she rushed off to find a senior nurse because I measured 205/95. Fortunately I'd taken my chart of daily readings taken at home and after 3 more attempts to get a lower reading, they finally believed me and I wasn't sent home!

I think half the trouble is that I find their cuffs terribly painful, because I can't say I felt at all apprehensive about the treatment as I've had it before and its nothing like as painful as that arm cuff!

hi ....... yes that cuff is aweful ...... but I have learned a little trick .........breathe in then exhale deeply as they pump away ...... do it very slowly , it can help , I almost make a blow noise ....its only a suggestion .......good wishes

Hi 12345, you advised me to do that a few weeks ago, for which I thank you, and I did use all the breathing exercises + getting my arm comfortable (which is difficult lying it on a pillow on a chair arm) relaxed seating position (although my feet don't touch the floor as I'm short) all the tricks I knew.

All in all they don't make it easy do they? All in all they measured it 4 times - each time it was worse than the last!
