Hello to all, I was diagnosed with COPD on Saturday 13/04/13 after struggling to breath on the previous Friday, I was taken to Russels Hall Hospital Dudley where I was treated with the best possible care I could have wished for. Back home now with loads of tablet's 2 inhaler's and a Nebulizer.

Not too far from me! I have a former SIL who is a sister there, and she is very good.

Welcome to a great site.

I live in South Staffs.

Yes sounds just like my son, long thin piece off streaky bacon, no offence intended.

he had ginger hair as well so stuck out like a sore thumb. ;D

Hi Stephen,

Welcome. You are now a member of a not so exclusive club of wheezers.

I remember how scared I was at first. Meds, panic attacks, high dependency unit and so on.

You'll find lots of information here and at the BLF. Get yourself on the waiting list for pulmonary rehab as soon as you can. It will help. Find a Breathe-Easy group near you. Don't be afraid to ask questions. There are no silly questions.

Keep positive.

Good luck.

Tony

Hi Stephen, it's nice to know you were well taken care of. I am in Oldbury and usuall get taken to Sandwell Hospital in West Brom. Look on the bright side, you have now joined a lovely bunch of people on here. There is, I admit, the odd reprobate but they will tell you anything you need to know. Best wishes Bob

Hello Bob, it was the ambulance staff that told me I had a choice but Russels is a lot closer to me than Sandwell ( stupid council borders)

For many there is comfort in finally having a reasoned explanation for the health they were experiencing, I hope this brings improvement and understanding as treatment has already begun.

I've been to Russells Hall, although I live in Shropshire it's the nearest one and it was an emergency. Shrewsbury hospital is 20 odd miles away and Telford is quite a way off. It is a good hospital. You'll get plenty of support from this site lurch, welcome to you.
