CAME IN FOR A LUNG FUNCTION TEST TO SEE HOW THE VALVES WERE GOING TURNED BLUE ALWAYS THOUGHT THAT WAS GOOD COLOUR FOR ME AND HERE I NOW AM IN RESPIRATORY FLUCTUATING BETWEEN 66 AND 95 SATS. HO HUM, THE FROST AND SNOW HAVE KILLED THE DAFFODILS THOUGH THE CHERRY BLOSSOM HAS SURVIVED, THE SUN IS SHINNING IN THROUGH THE HOSPITAL WINDOWS AND A GOOD CHILLY MORN LOOK TO BE ON ITS WAY. GREAT DAY TO ALL STAY WELL AND SAFE,

ROBIN

Hope you are improving falcon. Things are moving for me as I have an appointment for a ct scan and a follow up appointment with my consultant to discuss the valves and may have to have an appointment for lung function tests in between, but I should know whether I am suitable by the end of May! Keep smiling and hope you aren't in hospital too long!

Just to say you can still have a very good life with copd. I have emphysema and was diagnosed 13 years ago, I am now very severe, stage 4, and on oxygen 15/24, the oxygen is not so much to help the breathlessness but to protect the main body organs to ensure they get enough oxygen to work properly. I go out nearly every day either with my husband or by myself, I drive or use my mobility scooter, I spend days out with my family and have holidays in our little caravan and at family that live away. I potter in my little garden and look after my two little shih tsus. So really you can see my life has not altered much except that I gave up work at 67, I am 70 now, and do things more slowly and with rests in between to get my breath. I think I live a full and happy life for someone my age and I posted this just so that you could see that a good life goes on as long as you eat well, avoid infection, excersise and take your meds. My glass is three-quarters full. Oh I forgot to say, I have appointments for assessment for pulmonary lung valves, there is a link to a blog if you are interested: bitz-and-bobz.co.uk/copd/20...

I learned about the valves from this site too. I asked my respiratory nurse about them and she had never heard of it, so I asked her to contact the consultant. She got word back saying there was no funding in tayside for this, but he would look at my ct scan to see if I was a canditate with a view to maybe having it done in glasgow. So I await with baited breath :)

Yes Caroll, the valves are for the lungs, similar to the heart ones, but a fairly new procedure. Learn as much as you can from here, so you can question the gp etc, as they never tell you anything. Its all about money, and if you dont ask you dont get, thats been my findings.

best wishes ingrid.

hi ingy.yes i know if u dont ask u dont get.my old gp ignored my xray 2012 as no action needed.just ignorant man.i paid ffor it wen i went down atxmas with chronic bronchitus, never bin as ill in my life worse than labour pains.a locum sent me for a scan an it showed up ther.i went to old gp.told him wat i thought of him.as if u have copd the sooner u cease cigs the better.well id bin smoking them another 8 month with copd.i didnt have a clue.iv ceased now nearly 17 week now and thats it never again.i have a new gp now hes ok.wat stage are we to get considered 4 valves co u no.anywat im still asking the gp for everything i no wat old gp was like and incapable of readin an xray.that matter is being dealt with by advocate im not leaving it .my 3 daughters arnt either.r u from glasgow.if u dont mind me asking.

well, i really should have written something i just got a bit slack.

my stay in yeovil hospital was made bearable by the wonderful attitude of the nurses and all the other people that have to put up with all of us unwell people, i take my hat of to them all, two twits out of hundreds of amazing people is just unbelievable, i just wish that the powers that be would support them half as much as they all support the patients, they are a mighty lot of people and i am in awe of them all,

as far as my progress is concerned, opppps,, brompton hospital did the same scans only to discover that the valves were not in the right place and my lungs had not improved at all, it was so obvious when we looked at the scans and the x-rays you couldnt miss it, the air ho;es were obviously not covered and were leaking. i dont know the correct terms, though i do know that it was a bit depressing,

the plan now is to get me as fit as possible so that i can undergo either replacement of the valves, a bit troublesome yet possible i am told, also they could feasible put in more valves or open me up and do the old lung surgery on me, much slicing and cutting i am told,

so as i never admit defeat and there is always hope at the end of the tunnel i remain positive if not a little sad, lmao.

just to give all of you a giggle,,,, it was suggested that i see a psychiatrist.

and yes you got it in one i am far to happy and flamboyant to be let loose in the community

due mainly to my life in the theatrical world and also, that i think that i am close to dogs and horses, and have an infinity with the said animals, bi- polar on a small scale has been mentioned and a histrionic memory syndrome, i am quite pleased with that as i would hate to think that i couldn't appreciate two of my favorite animals both of which have shared many amazing times with me, and my happy visage,, well i just hope it gives others a bit of a laugh,

i know i get a lot of satisfaction out of being, just me,

love to all.

see you at the end of the tunnel.

the light burns bright and i am looking forward to seeing you all jumping for joy,

blessed be

ROBIN.
